KEY GAME INFORMATION
MIAMI: GUARDS: He's a shell of his former self, but the Heat will have to squeeze more regular-season minutes out of DWYANE WADE. His effectiveness could depend on whether or not he finally develops a three-point shot . . . The point guard situation is getting muddied, but the Heat dug deep to re-sign MARIO CHALMERS. He'll top the PG depth chart again . . . NORRIS COLE is likely too small and too erratic to ever be a starter, but he'll continue to play solid minutes with the second unit . . . The Heat seemed to grab SHABAZZ NAPIER on draft night because he's a LeBron James favorite. Now that James is gone, the rookie could be the odd man out in the point guard rotation. He'll have to overcome subpar measurables. FORWARDS: LUOL DENG is most certainly not LeBron James, and he won't fill anything resembling James' new role. He does give them a strong role player, a defensive stopper and secondary scorer . . . JOSH McROBERTS will facilitate the offense at times and generally serve as a floor-spacing, stretch-4. Miami is built to go small with him and Chris Bosh up front . . . DANNY GRANGER is trying to reinvent himself after an injury-filled couple of seasons. He can play both forward spots and might fit best as a stretch-4 in head coach Erik Spoelstra's system . . . UDONIS HASLEM is essentially a mascot during the regular season . . . JAMES ENNIS could break into the rotation later this season. He was tremendous in Summer League play. CENTERS: CHRIS BOSH is the best player on this team by a significant margin. He'll be the focal point of the offense most nights and should flirt with the 20-10 numbers he used to put up in Toronto . . . CHRIS ANDERSEN will often pair with Bosh in the frontcourt, taking some of the defensive heat off Bosh against bigger lineups.

Because of this important information, no power rating or computer score edges are posted for this game.

PHILADELPHIA: GUARDS: MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS wasn't the most legit Rookie of the Year, but he had his moments. He should be a little more efficient in his second season, and Philly certainly doesn't have a better alternative at the point. A shoulder injury will likely keep him sidelined for the first three weeks of the upcoming season . . . TONY WROTEN makes some highlight-reel plays and will likely start at the 2. He's too erratic to be in the rotation for a playoff team . . . As for the rest of the backcourt, ELLIOT WILLIAMS is looking to revive his career, and he's no worse than James Anderson and Hollis Thompson, who were starting for this team last season . . . Injuries have all but ended JASON RICHARDSON's career. He's on the final year of his deal, and might not play in 2014-15 after suffering a stress fracture to his right foot in late October . . . ALEXEY SHVED could play some quality minutes at both guard spots for this team. FORWARDS: The 2014 draft was deep, allowing Philly to land a first-round value in second-rounder K.J. McDANIELS. He's certainly better than anyone the Sixers trotted out at the 3-spot last season . . . HOLLIS THOMPSON could keep a starting job warm again . . . Another second-rounder, JERAMI GRANT, could play his way into the rotation. He's talented, but he's also something of a 'tweener, and like most Syracuse guys sitting in a 2-3 zone, Grant never learned how to e-on-one defense . . . ARNETT MOULTRIE has been something of a problem child in Philly, but he's good enough to make this rotation if he turns it around effort-wise . . . LUC RICHARD MBAH a MOUTE is here as a mentor for Joel Embiid. CENTERS: NERLENS NOEL is ready to make his debut. His collegiate rates suggest he'll rebound and block shots. The question marks are durability, functional strength and offensive game. He'll get to learn on the fly . . . JOEL EMBIID's foot problems will keep him out until at least midseason, and the Sixers will certainly play it safe with him. On raw talent, he's a future star. The questions are durability, and whether he can co-exist with Noel.

*Heat-76ers Preview* ====================

By JORDAN GARRETSON STATS Writer

Miami (1-0) at Philadelphia (0-1), 7:00 p.m. EDT

Chris Bosh backed up his blockbuster contract with a monster performance to kick off the Miami Heat's post-LeBron James era.

He'll look to help Miami re-establish its dominance against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night after losing the season series for the first time in six years.

Miami grabbed a 107-95 home win over Washington on Wednesday with Bosh posting 26 points and 15 rebounds - his most points with at least 15 boards while playing for the Heat. Bosh, who inked a five-year, $118 million deal over the summer, had seven games with at least 26 points and 15 rebounds in his final season with Toronto in 2009-10.

He took 18 shots after doing so 29 times in 287 regular-season games with the Heat over the last four seasons.

"I'm just happy to be playing basketball again in front of this great crowd and this great city," Bosh said. "We have so much going for ourselves right now. I like to win. It doesn't matter how we do it. We can get better."

Bosh combined for 47 points on 19-of-31 shooting in two trips to Philadelphia last season.

Dwyane Wade suffered a calf injury in the third quarter but returned in the fourth, scoring nine over a 3:13 span to finish with 21 and help Miami claim a 35-25 advantage in the final period.

Norris Cole scored a career-high 23 and was 3 of 7 from 3-point range after winning the starting point guard job over Mario Chalmers.

"He puts work in. Obviously at the point guard position, the opportunities don't come all the time. But he took advantage of it in a big way, and we needed that," Wade said of Cole. "Is he going to have that same role every night? No. But just to know he has the capability of making those shots, making great plays, is big for us."

Miami had won 15 straight over Philadelphia before dropping two of three in 2013-14 - its first season series loss since being swept in three meetings in 2007-08.

The 76ers are looking to avoid their second 0-3 start in nine years after Friday's 93-81 loss at Milwaukee. They surprisingly started 3-0 last season before finishing with the NBA's second-worst record at 19-63.

Philadelphia was outscored by the Bucks 11-0 over the final 8:21 and missed its final 14 shots. Coach Brett Brown continues to search for dependable offense with Tony Wroten scoring 14 on 4-of-11 shooting after scoring a team-high 22 in Wednesday's loss at Indiana. Nerlens Noel looked better, however, going 7 of 11 for 14 points after tallying six points on 2-of-11 shooting against the Pacers.

The 76ers held Milwaukee to 40.9 percent shooting but are hitting just 37.7 percent of their own shots through two games, going 11 for 44 from 3-point range.

"Some of that is just evolving to try to find some specific things. I think we can put Nerlens in some better spots," Brown said. "I think after that it's got to be done by a collective effort."

Brown's crew is also struggling on the boards, getting beat 55-42 by Milwaukee after being outrebounded 50-42 at Indiana.

The Heat outrebounded Washington 44-36 - an encouraging sign after finishing minus-3.4 in rebounding margin last season to rank 26th.
