| CALIFORNIA: Cal is turning to Texas Tech transfer Davis Webb to fill the QB void created by the departure of NFL top overall pick Jared Goff. Of equal concern is the fact that all six of the Golden Bears' top pass-catchers from a year ago are also gone. The story isn't much different on a defensive unit that lost not only some key seniors, but also LB Hardy Nickerson, who announced this spring that he was leaving to join his dad at Illinois.
| | USC: Clay Helton is going into his first full season as head coach after having been named interim coach last season. He and QB Cody Kessler will be tested early when they face Alabama in the season opener. WR Juju Smith-Schuster (1,454 yds, 10 TD) returns to lead the receiving corps.
