| NEVADA: Head coach Brian Polian and the Wolf Pack held steady for the first two years of his tenure, but this season will be a whole new challenge with quarterback Cody Fajardo having departed. The pistol offense seems to make average players good and good players great, so there's hope that Nevada can make it to a bowl for the 10th time in 11 seasons. But more likely, Nevada is looking at a down year with a dearth of playmakers on offense. | | SAN DIEGO ST: Running backs coach Jeff Horton was promoted to offensive coordinator and has installed a traditional pro-style offense heavy on power runs'he has the right rusher in junior Donnel Pumphrey. San Diego State might have as much talent as anyone in the Mountain West outside of Boise State. And since Boise is not on the schedule this season, the Aztecs have a great opportunity to win the West Division, setting up a possible meeting with the Broncos the conference title game. |
