| TROY: Neal Brown's return should create plenty of long-term optimism for Troy. If nothing else, his fast-breaking, pass-happy offense should make things interesting in a league that has leaned spread but run-heavy in recent years. Brown might have the right quarterback in sophomore Brandon Silvers, but the offense lacks the kind of catch-and-run weapons his offense needs. Not to mention, the defense is still a work in progress. The Trojans seem poised to make a move towards the top of the league in the coming years, but they're middle-of-the-pack in 2015. | | GEORGIA ST: The rough transition to FBS football continues. Georgia State has been overwhelmed the past two years, and this season isn't shaping up to be much better with few upgrades to a defense that can't compete at this level. The hope is that, with a solid quarterback in Nick Arbuckle, the Panthers might be able to pull of a surprise against someone this season. After zero wins against FBS opponents since moving up, that would at least be a start. |
