| GEORGIA ST: The rough transition to FBS football continues. Georgia State has been overwhelmed the past two years, and this season isn't shaping up to be much better with few upgrades to a defense that can't compete at this level. The hope is that, with a solid quarterback in Nick Arbuckle, the Panthers might be able to pull of a surprise against someone this season. After zero wins against FBS opponents since moving up, that would at least be a start. | | GA SOUTHERN: The transition to FBS went just fine, as the Eagles absolutely steam-rolled opponents last year and look poised to do the same again in 2015. There are some flaws; the defense is middling, and the offensive line must replace four new starters, but this is a team that lapped the field in 2014. The conference's game to circle is probably the Eagles' Oct. 22 trip to fellow newcomer Appalachian State. |
