| S ALABAMA: The Jaguars are the biggest wild card in the Sun Belt. Half of their offensive personnel, including QB Cody Clements and RB D.J. Vinson as well offensive coordinator Bryant Vincent, comes from UAB's now-defunct program. They brought in enough instant-impact talent to make a serious run at a conference title if everything clicks on offense. The defensive side of the ball is a whole other matter though. If the defense can bend but not break, and if the Jaguars can stay in contention until Thanksgiving, with Georgia Southern and Appalachian State to finish the regular season, they have a chance to steal the Sun Belt title. | | GA SOUTHERN: The transition to FBS went just fine, as the Eagles absolutely steam-rolled opponents last year and look poised to do the same again in 2015. There are some flaws; the defense is middling, and the offensive line must replace four new starters, but this is a team that lapped the field in 2014. The conference's game to circle is probably the Eagles' Oct. 22 trip to fellow newcomer Appalachian State. |
