| N CAROLINA: Things got ugly in Chapel Hill last season, where a Tar Heels team with a preseason Vegas win total of 7 stumbled to a 3-9 record. Needless to say, Mitch Trubisky was missed. Much of the trouble was indeed at quarterback, but Nathan Elliott had some decent games at the end of the year. Whether he or Chazz Surratt starts, speedy wideout Anthony Ratliff-Williams and experienced RBs Jordon Brown and Michael Carter provide an intriguing array of weapons. The defense should improve after an injury-plagued 2017. | | E CAROLINA: East Carolina's schedule does it no favors this season: In addition to playing USF, Temple, UCF and Memphis, the Pirates also face both Virginia Tech and North Carolina out of conference. And while the Pirates are still stocked with talent in the receiving corps, quarterback Reid Herring is inexperienced and won't be carving up defenses. On the other side of the ball, ECU fielded the worst defense in the nation last year. And while that means there's nowhere to go but up, it will likely just be a main reason this team finishes in last once again. |
