| RICE: Coming off a season in which it scored its fewest points in four years, Rice faces having to replace QB Driphus Jackson with fifth-year senior QB Tyler Stehling. Of greater concern is a defense that allowed an average of more yards per play than any team in FBS last season.
| | ARMY: Although quarterbacks Ahmad Bradshaw and Chris Carter each do a solid job running Army's run-first attack, the Black Knights need to establish at least some semblance of a passing game a year after completing only 49 passes with nine interceptions on just 108 attempts. Senior LBs Andrew King and Jeremy Timph return as the heart of a defense that needs to be more opportunistic after having forced only 11 turnovers last season, including just four over the team's final eight games.
