| | | ARIZONA: Key Additions: QB B.J. Coleman, FB Mykel Benson, WR Dwight Jones, WR Marquis Maze, OL Mike Golic Jr., OL Brennen Carvalho, DB Rayshaun Kizer.
Outlook: The defending champions, led by head coach Kevin Guy (77-27 in regular season, 11-3 in postseason as Rattlers HC) and reigning league MVP quarterback Nick Davila, will be looking for a four-peat this season after defeating the Gladiators 72-32 in the 2014 ArenaBowl. The league's No. 1 player, Davila, has all the weapons he needs on offense and . In 22 seasons in franchise history, the Rattlers have 19 playoff appearances, nine division titles and five ArenaBowl championships (nine ArenaBowl appearances). With returning stars such as WRs Rod Windsor and Kerry Reed, Davila is poised for another MVP-worthy season under center as he heads into his sixth season with the Rattlers. You can expect to see a fifth-straight division title for Arizona as they are likely to rank No. 1 in scoring offense again this season. | | NEW ORLEANS: Key Additions: QB Brian Reader, FB R.J. Bibbs, FB Kadeem Jones, WR Shaky Smithson, DL Anthony Grady, DB Malcolm Williams.
Outlook: New head coach Dean Cokinos surely has his work cut out for him down in New Orleans, especially in a very stingy East Division. Former VooDoo coach Pat O'Hara went just 16-36 in his three seasons in New Orleans, and the team is coming off an incredibly disappointing 3-15 season. With just three victories last season, and competing against two of the more dangerous teams in the American Conference, Cokinos has a tough road ahead of him. In eight seasons, this franchise has just one winning season (11-5, first place finish in 2004), and has eight combined wins over the last two seasons. Former Barnstormers QB Brian Reader appears to be New Orleans' best option at the position this season, and the inexperienced three-year AFL signal caller doesn't have a whole lot of weapons on offense. The retirement of NG Marlon Favorite (73.5 tackles, 13.5 sacks, two forced fumbles in his three seasons with the VooDoo) doesn't help the cause, either. I just can't see this team turning their fortune around any time soon. They'll be AFL bottom feeders once again in 2015. |
