KEY GAME INFORMATION
MINNESOTA:

LAST SEASON: 35-36-11, 81 points.

COACH: Mike Yeo, 2nd season, 35-36-11.

ADDED: LW Zach Parise, D Ryan Suter, C Mikael Granlund, LW Torrey Mitchell, C Zenon Konopka, C Jake Dowell.

LOST: LW Guillaume Latendresse, RW Nick Johnson, LW Warren Peters, RW Jed Ortmeyer, D Mike Lundin, C Erik Christensen, D Kurtis Foster.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Parise and Suter are the headliners, their identical 13-year, $98 million contracts serving as July 4 fireworks over the NHL free agent market, but the Finnish sensation Granlund is being given a spot on the second line before his 21st birthday. The ninth overall pick in the 2010 draft is so popular in his home country that paparazzi follow him around town. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound, slick-with-the-stick scorer spent the lockout playing for the Wild's AHL affiliate. He had 20 goals and 31 assists in 45 games last season for his club in Helsinki.

OUTLOOK: The Wild had the league's best record at 20-7-3 at the 30-game mark but nosedived down the stretch under the weight of myriad injuries. After signing Parise, bringing Granlund over and getting Pierre-Marc Bouchard back from another lengthy concussion absence, the Wild have unquestionably the deepest and most talented group of forwards in the franchise's 13-year history. Staying healthy in a fast-paced condensed season will be critical, of course, but the key to making the playoffs for the first time in five years is on the blue line, where veterans Suter and Tom Gilbert will need help from young players like Jared Spurgeon, Clayton Stoner and Marco Scandella.

VANCOUVER:

LAST SEASON: 51-22-9, 111 points. Lost to Los Angeles 4-1 in first round.

COACH: Alain Vigneault, 7TH SEASON, 287-155-50; 11th overall 396-273-54.

ADDED: D Jason Garrison, D Derek Joslin, RW Guillaume Desbiens.

LOST: D Sami Salo, D Aaron Rome, D Marc-Andre Gragnani, RW Mark Mancari.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Cory Schneider. He replaced Roberto Luongo during last year's first-round exit and the 33-year-old goaltender seem to be on his way out. The 26-year-old Schneider signed a three-year, $12 million contract extension last summer.

OUTLOOK: The Canucks have perhaps more urgency than any other NHL team to win the Stanley Cup. Vancouver led the league in points the past two regular seasons. After being a win away from hoisting the Cup for the first time in 2011, the Canucks won only one postseason game last year against the Kings.

*Wild-Canucks Preview* ======================

By NICOLINO DIBENEDETTO STATS Writer

Minnesota (6-5-1) at Vancouver (7-2-2), 10:00 p.m. EDT

The Vancouver Canucks' season-high winning streak already includes a victory over the Minnesota Wild.

A meeting in Vancouver may be enough to make that two.

Henrik Sedin looks to help the Canucks continue their home dominance of the Wild and possibly become the team's all-time leading scorer Tuesday night.

Vancouver (7-2-2) has outscored opponents 17-5 during a five-game winning streak that includes a 4-1 victory at Minnesota (6-5-1) on Thursday.

The Canucks followed that up by opening this four-game homestand with Saturday's 5-1 win over Calgary.

Vancouver has won 10 in a row at home against the Wild, dating to an overtime loss on Jan. 31, 2009. That dominance has been on display over the last four meetings there, with the Canucks holding a 15-2 scoring edge while recording three shutouts.

They cruised to a 3-0 victory in the most recent home matchup Jan. 4, 2012, when Sedin set up both first-period goals.

Sedin had two assists Saturday after being held without a point at Minnesota. He's one point behind Markus Naslund's team record of 756, and hosting the Wild could help him surpass that mark.

The 2010 Hart Trophy winner has 34 points in 33 home matchups, with 24 of them coming during a 16-game scoring streak that started with a pair of assists in a win on Nov. 16, 2007.

Roberto Luongo may be back in net since he's won eight straight home starts against Minnesota, compiling a 1.37 goals-against average while stopping all 90 shots in three consecutive shutouts.

He has won three straight starts overall with a 0.95 GAA and one shutout. However, he was still backing up Cory Schneider in the past two games, watching him win both while yielding two goals on 57 shots.

Jordan Schroeder may be looking to get himself on a roll after scoring his first two career goals Saturday. The 22nd overall selection in the 2009 draft came up empty on four shots at Minnesota on Thursday.

"It's kind of a weight off your shoulders," Schroeder said. "You're gripping your stick pretty tight. There's excitement, relief. You want to get that first one so bad. To be able to get two in one night is always good."

The Wild are also coming off a victory against Calgary, winning 2-1 in a shootout on the road Monday after needing overtime to beat Nashville 2-1 on Saturday.

They've failed to win three in a row on two previous occasions this season, and are 1-3-1 away from home.

Getting the first road win of the season may have been a relief Monday, but Kyle Brodziak also found some comfort by scoring his first goal after setting career highs with 22 tallies and 44 points last season.

"Finally," said Brodziak, whose only other point came in a season-opening win over Colorado on Jan. 19. "Hopefully they'll come more often. It's tough to explain sometimes when it's not going in. It's not something you can dwell on, you just have to focus on playing a strong game."

The center has 14 points in his last 18 meetings with Vancouver, but only three have come in eight road games and he had none with a minus-2 rating Thursday.
