KEY GAME INFORMATION
MONTREAL: MONTREAL (AP) - As Montreal embarks on a season laced with expectations, most around the NHL are confused by just what this bunch is.
Are the Canadiens the team that won 13 of their first 20 games on their way to the franchise's 22nd division title last season, and first since 2007-08? Or are they the team that lost six of their last 10 regular-season games and were eliminated from the playoffs in five games by the Ottawa Senators?
The talent is certainly still in place, but the trek will be tough. Montreal, in the reconfigured NHL, is in the difficult Atlantic Division with the likes of Boston, Ottawa, Toronto and Detroit. All of those teams made the playoffs last season, and the Bruins advanced to the Stanley Cup finals.
Montreal opens vs. Toronto on Oct. 1.
TAMPA BAY: Since getting off to a flying start in 2011-12, the Steve Yzerman era in Tampa Bay has stalled considerably.
Heading into his fourth season as the club's general manager, the former Detroit Red Wings great is aiming to reverse the trend that has seen the Lightning miss out on the playoffs in each of the past two springs after making it to the Eastern Conference finals in 2010.
The Lightning are an exciting team to watch, but the club's high-powered offensive attack may need to dial it back a little in 2013-14 in order to comply with Cooper's new system. That doesn't mean he'll put a leash on Stamkos or St. Louis, but the rest of the forwards will be asked to chip in more at the back end. The slightest improvement on defense and in goal could be the difference in making the playoffs this season. Then again, treading water will likely mean a third straight season out of the postseason.
PREVIEW
This is the second postseason meeting between Tampa Bay swept Montreal. The Canadiens swept Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2004. Here are five things to watch in this series:

DIFFICULT TO BEAT: Price went 34-20-5 this season and has a big edge over Lindback in playoff experience. The Montreal goaltender has appeared in 30 career postseason games, compared to the 13 minutes of playing time Lindback got in his only previous exposure to the playoffs in 2011 with Nashville. "He's the type of guy if he see the puck, he's going to stop it. One of the best goalies in the world, there's no question there," Lightning forward Ryan Callahan. "We've got to try to get traffic in front of him, and try to make it hard on him to see."

WORK TO DO: The Canadiens practiced at home before flying to Florida on Tuesday. One of the focal points this week has been trying to fix the problems they've had scoring on the power play. In addition to going 0 for 23 over the last eight games of the regular season, they were 0 for 14 in four meetings with Tampa Bay.

STAMKOS FACTOR: Once of the reasons the Lightning are confident they can win without Bishop is they've already weathered a stretch in which they played 45 games without Steven Stamkos, who broke his right leg in December. Despite being sidelined until after the Olympic break, the high-scoring forward finished with 25 goals and 40 points.

EXPERIENCE COUNTS, BUT ...: The Lightning have 14 players who could make their postseason debuts during this series. They had eight rookies appear in at least 41 games - five more than the next closest team. They're also led by Cooper, who's in his first full season leading a NHL team. "Like I've said before, I'm a rookie to the NHL, but I'm not a rookie coach," said Cooper, who coached many of Tampa Bay's young player in the minors. "I've been a part of teams that have played in June. ... We've kind of been through this together."

TRADITION: The Canadiens have won 24 Stanley Cup titles, though none since 1993. The Lightning swept its only previous playoff series against Montreal on the way to winning their lone NHL title 10 years ago.
