KEY GAME INFORMATION
NASHVILLE: Key additions: F Nick Bonino (Penguins), D Alexei Emelin (trade with Golden Knights), F Scott Hartnell (Blue Jackets)
Key Losses: F Mike Fisher (retired), F Colin Wilson (trade with Avalanche), F James Neal (Golden Knights)
OUTLOOK: You would be hard pressed to find a team built better both to contend now and in the future. They lost some veterans, and it's going to be hard to replicate how they peaked in 2016-17. But their core is energetic playoff material.
BUFFALO: Key additions: D Marco Scandella (trade with Wild), F Jason Pominville (trade with Wild), F Benoit Pouliot (Oilers), G Chad Johnson (Coyotes), D Nathan Beaulieu (trade with Canadiens)
Key Losses: F Tyler Ennis (trade with Wild), F Marcus Foligno (trade with Wild), G Anders Nilsson (Canucks), D Dmitri Kulikov (Jets)
OUTLOOK: They seem to be in good hands with their new staff, and they've got an "it" factor between young standout Jack Eichel, Evander Kane and newcomer Casey Mittelstadt. The question is how long it'll take for the season results to change.
PREVIEW
Topping Predators tall task for Sabres

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Sabres ended one long streak against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. It will be a whole other task when the Nashville Predators visit on Monday.

The Sabres (23-36-12) snapped a 12-game losing streak to the Blackhawks on Saturday with a 5-3 home victory. It was Buffalo's first win over the Blackhawks in nearly a decade, with Buffalo's last win over Chicago coming in December 2009.

Things will be a bit more difficult on Monday night against Nashville (47-14-10), who has won 13 of its last 14 games and hasn't lost in regulation since Feb. 17. The Predators are coming off a 4-2 win against Colorado on Friday and will look to end their three-game road trip with a perfect record on Monday.

With the win over the Avalanche, the Predators clinched a playoff berth for the fourth consecutive season -- which they hope is just the start of something much, much bigger.

"It feels good," center Colton Sissons said, according to the team's website. "That's what every team suits up for in training camp is to get to the postseason. As we found out last year, as long as you get in, you just never know what can happen. We're pumped about it, and to be the first ... it's pretty special."

Sissons had two goals against Colorado, as did Filip Forsberg. The Predators tied a franchise record with points in 14 consecutive games and they also set a franchise record with points in 14 straight road games.

"I don't think there's a lack of confidence we're going to score goals or that we can win or how to win a game when it comes to the end," Predators coach Peter Laviolette said, according to the team's website. "I think the guys are confident with that, and that's just the way it's presented itself on the road. ... We played the hand that was dealt and the guys played it well."

Viktor Arvidsson leads the Predators in scoring with 53 points (26 goals, 27 assists) in 69 games. Forsberg is second on the team with 51 points (20 goals, 31 assists) in 57 games. Pekka Rinne has a save percentage of .929 in 52 games played.

The Sabres got a huge boost in their win over the Blackhawks with the return of top center Jack Eichel. Eichel had an immediate impact all over the ice for Buffalo, posting one assist and five shots in the victory. Eichel had missed the previous 15 games with an ankle injury.

"It's so nice to have him back," said Sabres center Ryan O'Reilly, who had a goal and an assist against Chicago. "The little things he does when he gets the puck, you feel like the whole building is like, 'OK, what's he going to do?' The other team has to be so sharp when he's out there and it makes us a more dangerous team."

Eichel leads the Sabres in scoring with 54 points (22 goals, 32 assists) in 56 games. O'Reilly is second on the team with 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) in 70 games.
