KEY GAME INFORMATION
TAMPA BAY:

LAST SEASON: 38-36-8, 84 points. Missed the playoffs by finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference.

COACH: Guy Boucher, 3rd season, 84-61-19.

ADDED: G Anders Lindback, D Sami Salo, D Matt Carle, RW B,J. Crombeen, LW Benoit Pouliot.

LOST: G Dwayne Roloson, D Brett Clark, RW Ryan Shannon.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Steven Stamkos. Young rising star had NHL-best 60 goals, including a league-high 12 game-winners last season. The Lightning are counting on him to continue delivering in clutch situations.

OUTLOOK: A year removed from making the Eastern Conference finals in their first season under Boucher, the Lightning finished 10th in the conference - eight points short of the playoffs - last season. Stamkos & Co., feel a quick start will be one of the keys to getting back to the post-season.

BOSTON:

LAST SEASON: 49-29-4, 102 points. Lost to Washington 4-3 in first round.

COACH: Claude Julien, 6th season with Bruins, 228-132-50; 10th overall, 347-218-10-73 in NHL.

ADDED: D Dougie Hamilton (rookie). F Chris Bourque.

LOST: G Tim Thomas (suspended). F Marc Savard (concussions).

PLAYER TO WATCH: G Tuukka Rask. With Thomas, the two-time Vezina Trophy winner, opting to take a year off, the Bruins will rely on former backup Rask as the primary goaltender. He won the job from Thomas in 2009-10, posting a 1.97 GAA. Anton Khudobin will be the backup.

OUTLOOK: The Bruins are essentially the same team that won the Stanley Cup two years ago - with the important exception of Thomas. The enigmatic Conn Smythe Trophy winner from the title run surprised the team by deciding to take a year off to rest. He will be placed on the suspended list.

*Lightning-Bruins Preview* ==========================

By MIKE LIPKA STATS Editor

Tampa Bay (6-4-0) at Boston (7-1-1), 7:00 p.m. EDT

A major blizzard will make the Boston Bruins wait a few extra hours to play Saturday, but it isn't expected to prevent them from facing the Tampa Bay Lightning.

How many fans are there to watch remains to be seen.

The Bruins look to continue their impressive start and extend their home dominance of Tampa Bay on Saturday night in a game that was originally scheduled as a matinee.

With a massive storm dumping a potentially historic amount of snow on the Boston area - prompting the closing of the city's public transportation system and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick ordering cars off the roads Friday night - this contest was moved from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Boston (7-1-1) may be eager to get back on the ice after winning back-to-back road games despite totaling only three goals. After Tuukka Rask stopped 21 shots in a 1-0 win at Toronto last Saturday, he made 20 saves in a 2-1 victory Wednesday in Montreal.

Against the Canadiens, coach Claude Julien juggled his lines before the third period to put Tyler Seguin with David Krejci and Milan Lucic, and Seguin and Krejci responded by each scoring in the first 2:05 of the period.

"We needed to create more scoring chances," Julien said. "That Krejci line's been awesome for us but (Wednesday) they weren't able to generate much, so I said, 'Let's move guys around here and give them a little spark,' and it worked out."

Brad Marchand, the team leader with five goals, missed the game with an upper-body injury, and it's unclear if he'll return Saturday.

Julien may want Rask back in net, two days after the Bruins traded absent goaltender Tim Thomas to the New York Islanders for salary cap reasons.

Rask has inherited the starting role and has posted a 1.96 goals-against average in eight starts, helping the Bruins get out of the gates quickly despite going an NHL-worst 3 for 34 (8.8 percent) on the power play.

"He's had the right attitude," Julien said. "With the high expectations, he's just doing his job."

If he starts Saturday, he'll try to hold down a Tampa Bay team that has scored an NHL-high 42 goals.

Some other clubs have had success doing that lately. The Lightning (6-4-0) averaged 5.3 goals during their 6-1-0 start, but they've totaled five while losing their last three games.

They went 0 for 4 on the power play for the second straight contest Thursday, putting a season-low 19 shots on net in a 4-2 defeat at New Jersey. Superstar Steven Stamkos has gone without a goal in consecutive games after scoring at least one in five straight.

"We don't seem to capitalize on our chances and it has been hurting us the last three games," coach Guy Boucher said.

A trip to Boston doesn't seem like the best way to get things going again. Including the 2011 Eastern Conference finals, the Lightning have five wins in 41 all-time visits, failing to score more than one goal in seven of the last 11.

They lost twice in Boston last season by a combined 9-3 margin, and they're 1-3-0 on the road this year.

Tampa Bay forward Benoit Pouliot will be facing the Bruins for the first time since spending last season with Boston.
