KEY GAME INFORMATION
ST LOUIS:

LAST SEASON: 49-22-11, 109 points, Central Division championship. Lost to Los Angeles 4-0 in second round.

COACH: Ken Hitchcock, 1st full season with Blues, 43-15-11; 16th overall, 576-365-169 in NHL.

ADDED: RW Vladimir Tarasenko, LW Jaden Schwartz, D Jeff Woywitka, D Colin White.

LOST: RW B.J. Crombeen, D Kent Huskins (unsigned unrestricted free agent).

PLAYER TO WATCH: Shifty, inventive LW David Perron has potential to lift a grinding offense that ranked in the bottom third of the NHL after scoring 42 points in 57 last season after recovering from concussion that sidelined him a full season.

OUTLOOK: The Blues stood pat after second-best point total in franchise history, banking on continued development of youthful roster, and figure to be among top teams in Western Conference. Hitchcock was NHL coach of year, elevating play across the board of roster that was 7-7 before he replaced Davis Payne.

ANAHEIM:

LAST SEASON: 34-36-12, 80 points. Missed playoffs by finishing 11th in the Western Conference.

COACH: Bruce Boudreau, 2nd season with Ducks, 27-23-8; 6th overall, 228-111-48 in NHL.

ADDED: D Bryan Allen, D Sheldon Souray, G Viktor Fasth, LW Daniel Winnik, RW Brad Staubitz.

LOST: D Lubomir Visnovsky, LW Niklas Hagman, D Sheldon Brookbank, G Dan Ellis.

PLAYER TO WATCH: C Ryan Getzlaf. The Ducks' top playmaker heads into his contract year coming off the worst statistical season of his decorated career. The NHL and Olympic champion needs a huge season with Corey Perry, who's also heading for free agency.

OUTLOOK: Anaheim bolstered its defense with Allen and Souray, but largely kept its offense intact despite last season's disappointments. Even with few changes, the Ducks believe their star-studded veteran roster should be in the playoff hunt again

*Blues-Ducks Preview* =====================

By TAYLOR BECHTOLD STATS Writer

St. Louis (12-9-2) at Anaheim (17-3-3), 8:00 p.m. EDT

While the Anaheim Ducks have been one of the league's best home teams all season, they have a chance to make history with their next victory at Honda Center.

The Ducks look to match a franchise record with their 11th straight home win on Sunday night when they take on the St. Louis Blues, who have only won twice in their last 18 trips to Anaheim.

Since a 5-0 loss to Vancouver in their home opener, the Ducks have outscored opponents 35-16 while running off 10 consecutive victories on their own ice. Anaheim (17-3-3) defeated Calgary 4-0 on Friday to get within one win of the franchise record for consecutive home victories set in 2009-10.

Viktor Fasth made 29 saves for his second shutout and the Ducks blanked consecutive opponents for the fifth time in club history and the first since Jan. 7-9, 2011. Fasth has won all five of his home starts with a 0.99 goals-against average, while Jonas Hiller shut out Phoenix 2-0 on Wednesday and improved to 5-1-0 with a 2.64 GAA in Anaheim.

"It's something we've had to rely on all season. When we haven't played well, Vik and Hillsy have kept us in games," winger Daniel Winnik said.

Hiller could get the start this time around with a four-game home winning streak in this series. Fasth, meanwhile, surrendered a season-high five goals in a 6-5 shootout win at St. Louis on Feb. 9.

Anaheim will have to find a way to contain a St. Louis offense that has 14 goals in the last three games. Following consecutive losses to open their season-long five-game road trip, the Blues (13-9-2) bounced back with a 6-3 win at Phoenix on Thursday and a 4-3 overtime win over San Jose on Saturday.

Vladimir Sobotka recorded his first career hat trick as St. Louis rallied from two goals down in the third period against the Sharks. Sobotka has six goals in his last five games after netting only one in the Blues' first 19 games.

"It felt great but it's better to score two points," Sobotka said. "That's really important for us because we need it."

After converting 19 of 53 power-play chances in its first 14 games, St. Louis has gone just 1 for 22 with a man advantage in the last nine. They'll try to turn that around against the Ducks, who rank near the bottom of the league in penalty-kill percentage (77.2) but have killed 26 of their last 29 penalties.

Just hours after signing an eight-year, $66 million contract extension, Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and an assist in Friday's win. Getzlaf, who ranks among the NHL leaders with 29 points, has seven (three goals, four assists) during his three-game scoring streak.

Bobby Ryan carries a six-game point streak into this contest after adding a goal and an assist against the Flames. Ryan had two goals and two assists in last month's win at St. Louis.

Jaroslav Halak is expected to make his first start since allowing a season-high five goals in a 6-4 loss at Los Angeles on Tuesday. Halak has surrendered 10 goals in his last three starts after yielding 11 in his first seven. He has posted a 3.40 GAA while losing his last three in Anaheim.

The Ducks have won five straight and 15 of the last 18 at home in this series.
