KEY GAME INFORMATION
SEATTLE: Seattle has a flimsy O-line, but QB Russell Wilson is one of the greatest on-the-move passers in league history, not to mention his prowess as a runner. WR Doug Baldwin is a true No. 1 and the only proven asset in the receiving group. After three seasons of RB futility (no Seattle RB reached 250 rushing yards last season), the Hawks have high hopes for first-round draft pick RB Rashaad Penny and RB Chris Carson, who missed 12 games in 2017. The Legion of Boom has been largely dismantled as Seattle parted ways with so many key contributors this offseason'coordinator Kris Richard, CB Richard Sherman, S Kam Chancellor and DL Michael Bennett, to name a few. The outstanding LB duo of Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright will continue to the anchor the defense, while emerging stars DE Frank Clark and DT Jarran Reed will have to rise to the occasion.
MINNESOTA: Minnesota believes they upgraded their offense by signing QB Kirk Cousins. Expert coordinator Pat Shurmur is gone, though John DeFilippo (considered future-head-coach material in NFL circles) was a great hire to replace him. WRs Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen developed into a lethal duo, both excelling as route-runners and in contest-catch situations. RB Dalvin Cook looked like a star before tearing his ACL in Week 4 of his rookie campaign. You wouldn't have known it from the NFC Championship Game, but Minnesota had the league's best defense last season. They led the NFL in scoring (15.8 points per game) and 3rd-down conversion rate (25%). S Harrison Smith, CB Xavier Rhodes and LBs Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks are among the top performers at their positions. Up front, DEs Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter combined for 20 sacks last season.
