KEY GAME INFORMATION
GOLDEN STATE: GUARDS: New head coach Steve Kerr doesn't figure to tweak this system much, so expect STEPHEN CURRY to keep doing his thing. He's added elite playmaking skills to his already outstanding deep shooting . . . The Warriors are reluctant to part with KLAY THOMPSON in part because of his three-point shooting, but mostly because of his defensive value alongside Curry . . . SHAUN LIVINGSTON will back up both guard spots. He's also the only proven point guard on the roster besides Curry . . . BRANDON RUSH will look to revive his career in Oakland. He'll have to prove his knees are healthy enough before he earns a rotation spot . . . It's a make or break year already for NEMANJA NEDOVIC, who was severely overmatched as a rookie. FORWARDS: ANDRE IGUODALA is a defensive specialist and no more than a role player on offense. His main job is to take some of the playmaking duties away from Curry . . . Kerr seems resigned to the fact that he's stuck with DAVID LEE. He has some value on offense, but remains one of the league's worst defensive frontcourt players. Expect him to lose some minutes under Kerr . . . HARRISON BARNES will play a bit of power forward in some small lineups, but mostly he'll play a wing spot. Barnes will have to regain his confidence early if he's going to be an impact sixth man . . . Kerr has hinted at a bigger role for DRAYMOND GREEN, who will play some stretch-4 this year . . . MARREESE SPEIGHTS gives them an offense-only big man off the bench. CENTERS: Kerr has hinted at a bigger offensive role for ANDREW BOGUT. But monitoring the Aussie's minutes may be the bigger goal, to ensure he's actually available for the postseason . . . Back-up center FESTUS EZELI should be ready to return from his knee injury, though he was having shin problems during Summer League.
ORLANDO: GUARDS: VICTOR OLADIPO, who will miss the first four weeks of season with a facial fracture suffered in a late October practice, will play off the ball more, allowing him to slash from the wing. It's a more natural role for him . . . With Jameer Nelson jettisoned, ELFRID PAYTON will step in as the starter at the point. He has an enormous transition from the Sun Belt Conference, but the quickness and athleticism are there . . . EVAN FOURNIER never found consistency in Denver, but could be a valuable wing shooter on a team that needs it . . . BEN GORDON was signed with a very 'tradeable' contract in mind. The Magic are hoping he shoots well enough to draw some suitors . . . LUKE RIDNOUR is a veteran insurance policy behind Payton . . . WILLIE GREEN can be an effective second-unit player . . . ROY DEVYN MARBLE seems like a D-Leaguer. FORWARDS: The Magic brought in CHANNING FRYE to provide some floor spacing and a veteran presence, both much-needed . . . TOBIAS HARRIS will likely have to play some more small forward. He has the offensive skill set to do it, but defense will continue to be an issue . . . He can play both forward spots, and AARON GORDON should be one of the league's better defensive forwards right off the bat. But for now, his offense is limited to dunking . . . It's a big year for MAURICE HARKLESS, who has yet to establish himself as a rotation-caliber player. With Harris and Gordon capable of playing the 3, Harkless could lose major minutes . . . ANDREW NICHOLSON has a ways to go after a disappointing second season. He's likely on the outside of this rotation. CENTERS: NIKOLA VUCEVIC is a cornerstone player in Orlando because he's big, and he does everything just well enough. He's not a game-changer on either side of the court . . . KYLE O'QUINN has had some good moments in garbage-time games the past two seasons. It's enough to keep him on the roster.

*Warriors-Magic Preview* ========================

By NOEY KUPCHAN STATS Writer

Golden State (10-2) at Orlando (6-10), 7:00 p.m. EDT

The injury-plagued Orlando Magic are coming off their most lopsided defeat of the season.

Things aren't about to get any easier with the surging Golden State Warriors coming to town.

Looking to get on track, the Magic will attempt to snap the Warriors' six-game winning streak Wednesday night.

Orlando (6-10) has dropped back-to-back games, 99-92 to Miami on Saturday and 106-74 at Cleveland on Monday. Victor Oladipo had a season-high 22 points while Nikola Vucevic added 18 and 13 rebounds against the Cavaliers, but nobody else scored more than eight as Orlando shot a season-low 36.3 percent.

"The bad thing is the games keep coming," coach Jacque Vaughn told the team's official website. "I wouldn't mind \2026 can we just do All-Star break right now? That would be nice to get everybody whole and healthy. But we'll manage. This is what we signed up for."

Tobias Harris has missed the last two games with a strained calf, leaving Orlando without its second-leading scorer at 18.8 points per game. Top rookie Aaron Gordon remains out following foot surgery, and Kyle O'Quinn has been sidelined with a sprained ankle suffered in the season opener.

"It puts us in a bind with the available wings we have, but we'll continue to piece it together and fight like heck," Vaughn said of Harris' injury.

Guard Evan Fournier is also listed on the injury report with a quad contusion, leaving his status for Wednesday in question. He's averaging 16.5 points after spending the previous two seasons with Denver.

The Magic had taken eight of nine from Golden State (11-2) before losing both games last season by an average of 13.5 points, suffering their first sweep in the series since 1991-92.

"I was in the Western Conference, so I've played them (eight) times and they play with a high pace and they obviously have a lot of shooters," Fournier said. "They play very hard, so it's going to be a tough game for us. There will be a lot of tough matchups for us."

Fournier was surely at least in part referring to Stephen Curry, who scored a season-high 40 points in Tuesday's 114-97 win at Miami. The All-Star guard shot 12 of 19, including 8 of 11 from 3-point range.

Curry, averaging a team-best 23.9 points, had scored a combined 23 on 33.3 percent shooting in the previous two games. While he's shooting 38.9 percent overall from 3-point range, Curry's made 47.5 percent of those shots (28 for 59) in leading Golden State to a 6-1 road record.

"You always stay confident, stay ready. You win games all sorts of ways with different individual performances," he said. "How we shot last game had nothing to do with this game. If we execute our offense well, you're going to get good shots."

All seven of Curry's career 40-point or better games have come on the road.

The Warriors held the Heat without a basket over the final nine minutes and closed the game on a 21-2 run. They are 3-0 against the Eastern Conference, with the last two wins coming by a combined 42 points.

"The beauty of this team is we can play both ends," coach Steve Kerr said. "We have the personnel to score. We have the personnel to guard."

Golden State has outscored opponents by an average of 14.9 points during its winning streak.
