KEY GAME INFORMATION
TORONTO: GUARDS: KYLE LOWRY is healthy again and will be handed the reigns. He could be the Raptors best player on both ends of the floor . . . As of now, JOSE CALDERON is still on the roster, but he's not long for Toronto with Lowry's arrival. He won't start over Lowry, but he could see decent minutes as the Raptors attempt to showcase him . . . With Toronto's influx of new talent, DeMAR DeROZAN could be marginalized on the offensive end. He hasn't really progressed past the dunker/raw athlete stage of his career . . . Rookie TERRENCE ROSS can just about match DeRozan's athleticism, and while he has no handle, he's a potentially deadly three-point threat . . . JOHN LUCAS III will back up both guard spots . . . ALAN ANDERSON returns as a defensive stopper in the second unit. FORWARDS: ANDREA BARGNANI makes his triumphant return and will likely go back to the perimeter. The Raptors have beefed up in the middle so Bargnani can play outside more . . . LANDRY FIELDS plays enough defense to earn minutes, but it seems like his signing was more a result of Toronto playing cap games to try to land Steve Nash. He'll likely platoon with Terrence Ross . . . ED DAVIS made some strides this offseason, but he's still not where the Raptors want him to be on the offensive end . . . LINAS KLEIZA's knee should be in better shape this season. The Raptors want more shooting, and he has a chance to grab a bigger role . . . Toronto will do everything it can to get out from under AMIR JOHNSON's contract . . . DOMINIC McGUIRE figures to occupy the final seat on the Raptors bench. CENTERS: JONAS VALANCIUNAS would have been the No. 2 pick of the draft had he come out a year later. He's a wiry, strong athlete who's physical down low with soft touch out to 10 feet. Toronto sees him as a franchise cornerstone who meshes nicely with Bargnani . . . AARON GRAY should provide ample competition for the starting center job.
ORLANDO: GUARDS: With Dwight Howard gone, this becomes JAMEER NELSON's team on the offensive end. Injuries slowed him a year ago, but he still does a nice job creating his own scoring chances . . . ARRON AFFLALO will provide some much-needed defense on the perimeter, a huge team weakness that will be exploited in the post-Howard era. He'll be a No. 2 or 3 option on the offensive end as well . . . J.J. REDICK has a chance for a bigger role in what should be a transitional year in Orlando. He's no more of a defensive liability than Nelson . . . CHRISTIAN EYENGA was a throw-in during the Dwight Howard trade and defends well enough to earn a roster spot . . . ISHMAEL SMITH will back up Nelson once he returns from a shoulder injury . . . E'TWAUN MOORE has played well enough in the preseason to spell Nelson too. FORWARDS: HEDO TURKOGLU still has some value as a point forward, though his minutes could shrink as Orlando rebuilds . . . GLEN DAVIS shined in Howard's absence last year. He's inefficient, but aggressive and willing to throw his weight around . . . Keep an eye on ANDREW NICHOLSON; the rookie is a crafty scorer who can shoot away from the basket . . . QUENTIN RICHARDSON will chug along as an injury-prone, three-point specialist . . . AL HARRINGTON is coming off a couple knee surgeries and may not have much left in the tank . . . MOE HARKLESS is athletic, versatile, and could get a long look in the second half of the year . . . GUSTAVO AYON is a capable big body who can play some center . . . JUSTIN HARPER will be buried on the bench . . . JOSH McROBERTS is not good. CENTERS: Davis figures to see a lot of minutes at center, but NIKOLA VUCEVIC is a much better defensive option. He's limited offensively, but could start grabbing more minutes in the middle as the year goes on . . . KYLE O'QUINN is a big body who can score around the basket. He has a rough transition ahead of him as an average athlete from a small school.

*Raptors-Magic Preview* =======================

By NOEY KUPCHAN STATS Writer

Toronto (10-20) at Orlando (12-17), 7:00 p.m. EDT

The Orlando Magic had won a season-best four straight before running into the Toronto Raptors just over a week ago.

Not much has gone their way since.

The Magic try to avoid matching their longest losing streak of the season Saturday night against the visiting Raptors, who look to keep rolling with a third consecutive victory in the season series.

Frustrations are surely starting to take their toll on the Magic (12-17) after being handed another tough loss Friday, 105-97 at NBA-worst Washington. Arron Afflalo scored 26 while J.J. Redick added 23 for Orlando, which was outscored 23-7 in transition and dropped to 0-4 since losing Glen Davis to a sprained left shoulder.

"We have to mix and match some lineups again and see if we can create some energy," said coach Jacque Vaughn, whose team lost five straight Nov. 6-13. "We gotta create a way to stop the opponent's ball from going in - so that's the next phase."

Orlando's loss snapped a league-best 12-game stretch of holding opponents to 100 points or fewer. The Wizards, meanwhile, reached triple digits for the first time in 12 games.

"There isn't an excuse for being bad defensively, and we are bad defensively right now, and it's surprising because we've been good defensively all season," Redick told the league's official website.

"Every team in the NBA is capable of scoring if you don't play D."

Orlando has been outscored by an average of just 4.5 points during its skid, which began with last Friday's 93-90 road loss to the Raptors (10-20).

The Magic, who also fell 97-86 at Toronto on Nov. 18, could have their hands full again if the Raptors' recent efforts are any indication.

Toronto entered Friday having lost 15 of 17 on the road before escaping with a 104-97 overtime win at New Orleans - its sixth victory in seven games overall.

DeMar DeRozan led the way with 30 points for the Raptors, who took care of business in OT after letting a 13-point lead with just over five minutes left in regulation slip away.

"We knew right from the jump ball, ain't gonna be no second overtime," said Alan Anderson, averaging 16.0 points over the last six games. "We played that five minutes and just blitzed them."

Kyle Lowry also came up big in his first action since missing seven games due to a partial tear of his triceps, posting 17 points to go along with a team-high eight assists off the bench. Lowry, who's appeared in just 17 games this season due to injury, could give the Raptors a huge boost if he can stay on the court.

"I did a lot of conditioning to be prepared to come back and play - I just wanna help the team," said Lowry, averaging a career-best 15.9 points. "The last couple of weeks, the ball has been moving really well. I just wanted to come out and keep that going and not try to do too much."

In addition to Davis' absence, Orlando could be without backup point guard E'Twaun Moore after he suffered a sprained left elbow Friday. Veteran forward Hedo Turkoglu, though, is hoping to suit up for the first time since breaking his left hand in the season opener.
