KEY GAME INFORMATION
PHILADELPHIA: GUARDS: MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS wasn't the most legit Rookie of the Year, but he had his moments. He should be a little more efficient in his second season, and Philly certainly doesn't have a better alternative at the point. A shoulder injury will likely keep him sidelined for the first three weeks of the upcoming season . . . TONY WROTEN makes some highlight-reel plays and will likely start at the 2. He's too erratic to be in the rotation for a playoff team . . . As for the rest of the backcourt, ELLIOT WILLIAMS is looking to revive his career, and he's no worse than James Anderson and Hollis Thompson, who were starting for this team last season . . . Injuries have all but ended JASON RICHARDSON's career. He's on the final year of his deal, and might not play in 2014-15 after suffering a stress fracture to his right foot in late October . . . ALEXEY SHVED could play some quality minutes at both guard spots for this team. FORWARDS: The 2014 draft was deep, allowing Philly to land a first-round value in second-rounder K.J. McDANIELS. He's certainly better than anyone the Sixers trotted out at the 3-spot last season . . . HOLLIS THOMPSON could keep a starting job warm again . . . Another second-rounder, JERAMI GRANT, could play his way into the rotation. He's talented, but he's also something of a 'tweener, and like most Syracuse guys sitting in a 2-3 zone, Grant never learned how to e-on-one defense . . . ARNETT MOULTRIE has been something of a problem child in Philly, but he's good enough to make this rotation if he turns it around effort-wise . . . LUC RICHARD MBAH a MOUTE is here as a mentor for Joel Embiid. CENTERS: NERLENS NOEL is ready to make his debut. His collegiate rates suggest he'll rebound and block shots. The question marks are durability, functional strength and offensive game. He'll get to learn on the fly . . . JOEL EMBIID's foot problems will keep him out until at least midseason, and the Sixers will certainly play it safe with him. On raw talent, he's a future star. The questions are durability, and whether he can co-exist with Noel.
OKLAHOMA CITY: GUARDS: Everything should be a full go with RUSSELL WESTBROOK. His attacking style of play will always carry some injury risk, but he hasn't lost any explosiveness to this point . . . REGGIE JACKSON wants to start, but it's a question of whether the Thunder can survive defensively with him and Westbrook in a small backcourt. Jackson is certainly their second-best offensive guard . . . ANTHONY MORROW can flat-out shoot. He can't do anything else, but that floor spacing might be enough to get him 20 minutes per night . . . If the light doesn't turn on, JEREMY LAMB will be on the outside of this rotation. FORWARDS: Once he returns from his foot injury in late November, it should be the same old story for KEVIN DURANT, the reigning NBA MVP . . . He still struggles defensively in space, but SERGE IBAKA will be right there among the league leaders in blocks again. Throw in a reliable mid-range game, and more offensive responsibility with Durant out, and he's a fringe All-Star . . . NICK COLLISON takes charges, but doesn't do much else . . . Rookie MITCH McGARY could be pushing Collison for minutes by midseason . . . ANDRE ROBERSON could get another handful of starts as a defensive presence on the wing, but he rarely plays 20-plus minutes . . . PERRY JONES is on the fringe of this roster. CENTERS: Is this it? Could this be the season that the Thunder finally stop playing KENDRICK PERKINS? . . . STEVEN ADAMS came on strong late last season and is probably already better than Perk. He can defend and moves the ball offensively.

*76ers-Thunder Preview* =======================

By NOEY KUPCHAN STATS Writer

Philadelphia (13-47) at Oklahoma City (33-27), 8:00 p.m. EDT

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without Kevin Durant for at least another week, but they're hoping to get Russell Westbrook back as soon as Wednesday night.

If available, Westbrook has a chance to join some elite company as the Thunder go for a 12th consecutive win over the visiting Philadelphia 76ers.

Westbrook's status remains up in the air after undergoing surgery to repair a facial fracture suffered in the final seconds of Friday's 115-112 loss at Portland. This year's All-Star game MVP missed Sunday's 108-101 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, but he practiced with a protective mask Tuesday and could face the 76ers.

Westbrook has been on a tear of late with three consecutive triple-doubles, becoming the first player to do so since LeBron James in March 2009. Michael Jordan was the last to post four in a row, stringing together a remarkable seven straight from March 25-April 6, 1989.

The 6-foot-3 Westbrook had never previously reached double figures in rebounds in three consecutive games, and he's now had at least 10 assists in six straight. He had 40 points against the Trail Blazers, one night after scoring 39 at Phoenix. However, the Thunder lost both games as he hoisted 70 field-goal attempts, and the team is 4-9 when he has at least 25.

Recently acquired D.J. Augustin came up big in Westbrook's absence with 18 points and nine assists Sunday, helping Oklahoma City (33-27) avoid a winless three-game road trip.

"DJ did a good job of stepping in," coach Scott Brooks told the team's official website. "Guys trust and believe in him. You can tell. He has a spirit about him that he's about the team and he's focused on making good basketball plays."

Even if Westbrook gives it a go, the Thunder won't be at full strength with Durant still out due to soreness in his surgically repaired right foot. The superstar forward has only appeared in 27 games due to injury, though Oklahoma City has won 12 of its last 18 without him.

Westbrook had 27 points while Durant finished with a season-low 10 in a 103-91 victory at Philadelphia on Dec. 5. The Thunder have outscored the 76ers by an average of 13.3 points during their 11-game win streak in the series, including the last two at home by a combined 57 points.

Oklahoma City has won 12 of its last 13 home games overall, including the last five by an average of 18.4 points. That doesn't bode well for a 76ers team that's dropped 12 straight on the road.

Philadelphia is averaging 86.1 points as the visiting team for the NBA's lowest mark since Portland was limited to 85.9 per game in 2005-06.

The 76ers (13-47) are looking to avoid a third consecutive loss after falling 114-103 to Toronto on Monday. Ish Smith had career highs of 19 points and nine assists off the bench, but Philadelphia wasted a season-best 32 assists.

Nerlens Noel continued to show improvement with 17 points while going 7 for 7 from the floor. The rookie has scored in double figures in eight of the last nine games and has shot 83.3 percent at the foul line over the past five, up from his season mark of 61.7.

"I definitely feel that my confidence has come along, approaching the line and having the confidence to know that I can make those free throwers and jumpers," he said. "I have momentum to take it to the next level."

Robert Covington (elbow) and Jason Richardson (knee) are uncertain to play after sitting out Monday. Covington scored a team-high 21 against the Thunder back in December.
