KEY GAME INFORMATION
BROOKLYN: GUARDS: Even after Paul Pierce came to Brooklyn, JOE JOHNSON remained the clear-cut No. 1 option in Brooklyn. Their offense figures to feature Johnson backing down defenders frequently again this year . . . DERON WILLIAMS seems to be deteriorating rapidly, struggling to stay healthy and losing confidence . . . JARRETT JACK figures to take Shaun Livingston's old role, playing alongside Williams often to take ball-handling duties off his plate . . . ALAN ANDERSON will see time at both wing spots as a defensive specialist who shoots some corner threes . . . SERGEY KARASEV has some long-term upside, but will do little this year . . . MARQUIS TEAGUE figures to have the edge on MARKEL BROWN for the No. 3 PG job. FORWARDS: With Paul Pierce gone, MIRZA TELETOVIC has a chance to take on a bigger role. He held his own defensively last year and provides another deep threat to space the floor . . . There's no telling what, if anything, they'll get out of ANDREI KIRILENKO this season. He seems to be at a point in his career when he's just not going to be able to stay healthy . . . BOJAN BOGDANOVIC should give Brooklyn some additional offensive firepower off the bench. He'll likely be a regular in the rotation by midseason . . . KEVIN GARNETT figures to play a bit more at the 4 alongside Brook Lopez, but there's pretty much no gas left in the tank for this 38-year-old player . . . Second-round pick CORY JEFFERSON is likely ticketed for the D-League. CENTERS: The Nets desperately need a healthy BROOK LOPEZ if they're going to win the Atlantic Division, but they'll have to monitor his minutes closely after another season lost to injury . . . With Lopez healthy, MASON PLUMLEE will resume his natural role as an energy guy off the bench.
OKLAHOMA CITY: GUARDS: Everything should be a full go with RUSSELL WESTBROOK. His attacking style of play will always carry some injury risk, but he hasn't lost any explosiveness to this point . . . REGGIE JACKSON wants to start, but it's a question of whether the Thunder can survive defensively with him and Westbrook in a small backcourt. Jackson is certainly their second-best offensive guard . . . ANTHONY MORROW can flat-out shoot. He can't do anything else, but that floor spacing might be enough to get him 20 minutes per night . . . If the light doesn't turn on, JEREMY LAMB will be on the outside of this rotation. FORWARDS: Once he returns from his foot injury in late November, it should be the same old story for KEVIN DURANT, the reigning NBA MVP . . . He still struggles defensively in space, but SERGE IBAKA will be right there among the league leaders in blocks again. Throw in a reliable mid-range game, and more offensive responsibility with Durant out, and he's a fringe All-Star . . . NICK COLLISON takes charges, but doesn't do much else . . . Rookie MITCH McGARY could be pushing Collison for minutes by midseason . . . ANDRE ROBERSON could get another handful of starts as a defensive presence on the wing, but he rarely plays 20-plus minutes . . . PERRY JONES is on the fringe of this roster. CENTERS: Is this it? Could this be the season that the Thunder finally stop playing KENDRICK PERKINS? . . . STEVEN ADAMS came on strong late last season and is probably already better than Perk. He can defend and moves the ball offensively.

*Nets-Thunder Preview* ======================

By NICOLINO DIBENEDETTO STATS Writer

Brooklyn (4-7) at Oklahoma City (3-10), 8:00 p.m. EDT

The Oklahoma City Thunder own the worst record in the Western Conference as they continue to take the court without their top two stars.

The Brooklyn Nets' struggles have more to do with lousy defensive play and outside shooting.

The Thunder will try to avoid their longest losing streak in almost six years Friday night by sending the Nets to a sixth straight defeat for the first time since they moved to Brooklyn.

Oklahoma City (3-10) isn't sure when Kevin Durant will return from a broken foot suffered in the preseason, and Russell Westbrook isn't expected back for at least two more weeks from a broken hand.

That's been reason enough for the Thunder to go from a championship-caliber team to the conference cellar, and they're on the verge of their longest slide since dropping seven straight Feb. 10-27, 2009.

Oklahoma City's losing streak reached four Wednesday, falling 107-100 at Denver. The Thunder were much better offensively, shooting 45.6 percent after making 35.5 percent from the floor while averaging 78.3 points over the previous three games.

"We know we have to play with that sense of urgency for 48 minutes on both ends," coach Scott Brooks said. "The thoughts have to be consistent and for the team throughout the game."

Serge Ibaka connected on 9 of 15 shots and scored 22 points to go along with a season-high 13 rebounds. That was a welcome change after he went 7 for 26 from the floor - 1 for 7 from 3-point range - while totaling 16 points with 12 boards over the two prior games.

Reggie Jackson, though, is still trying to shake out of a funk, making 27.3 percent of his field goals while averaging 13.7 points in the last three games. The guard leads the Thunder with 19.8 points per game, but his 23 weren't enough in a 116-85 loss at Brooklyn on Nov. 3 as Oklahoma City shot 39.0 percent.

That victory was part of a 4-1 stretch for the Nets, but they've dropped five straight while giving up an average of 106.6 points. They haven't helped themselves by making 24.7 percent of their 3s in the last four games, and they weren't much better while going 9 for 31 in a 122-118 triple-overtime loss to Milwaukee on Wednesday.

"We've got to find some ways somehow to get a win," guard Joe Johnson said. "When you're in a rut like this, it's tough. You've got to do all the little things. When you do get that win, it won't be certainly easy."

The Nets (4-7) lost their final six games of 2011-12 to conclude their tenure in New Jersey.

Brook Lopez is looking to build on a season-high 26 points against the Bucks, and he's averaging 22.5 over his last four meetings with Oklahoma City. He matched Alan Anderson for a team-high 18 points against the Thunder earlier this month.

Anderson, a reserve guard, has totaled 22 points in eight games since while going scoreless in each of the past three. However, he averaged 15.8 in his last four meetings with Oklahoma City - exactly double his career mark.
