KEY GAME INFORMATION
BOSTON: GUARDS: RAJON RONDO's name is etched on the trading block. Regardless of where he lands, his injured knee should be 100 percent healthy . . . With an improved three-point shot, AVERY BRADLEY has become a complete player. His defense guarantees minutes regardless . . . MARCUS SMART seems to be waiting in the wings for a Rondo trade. In the meantime, he'll back up both guard spots. Just like in college, he'll be brilliant at times, but inconsistent . . . Local product PHIL PRESSEY will stick around as a No. 3 point guard . . . EVAN TURNER was a disaster in Indy. He'll have a tough time making this rotation . . . MARCUS THORNTON was acquired as a trade throw-in. The Celtics don't have big plans for the remorseless gunner. FORWARDS: He's isn't a legitimate No. 1 option, but JEFF GREEN will be the go-to guy again. He hasn't been able to handle the extra defensive attention, becoming increasingly inefficient . . . He has plenty of limitations on both ends of the court, but JARED SULLINGER is a crafty scorer. He'll get close to starter minutes as the Celtics search for offense . . . BRANDON BASS will see time at the 4 and the 5. He's made a pledge to improve offensively, but more likely he'll be a defensive presence and a screen-setter . . . JAMES YOUNG missed most of the summer healing a neck injury. He's going to do some damage running the floor, but he doesn't have the skills for the half-court game in the NBA . . . GERALD WALLACE is playing out the string. CENTERS: KELLY OLYNYK has the most upside in this frontcourt. His rare mobility and skill set for a 7-footer made a difference last year. It's just a question of whether he can hold up defensively down low . . . TYLER ZELLER gives them another solid 7-footer who opposing defenses have to account for. He'll fit well in head coach Brad Stevens' system . . . JOEL ANTHONY isn't going to get off the bench.
MINNESOTA: GUARDS: RICKY RUBIO is a fine ball-handler and creative passer, but it would be nice if he knocked down some shots . . . The Wolves are still trying to move KEVIN MARTIN's contract. He has devolved into more of a spot-up shooter . . . ANDREW WIGGINS should immediately contribute for this team. He'll be an elite defender, sooner rather than later, and should be able to produce points as well . . . Shoot-first combo guard MO WILLIAMS will head up the second unit . . . J.J. BAREA is also likely to be moved. He can still do the Mighty Mouse, sixth-man thing . . . On paper, CHASE BUDINGER is a great fit alongside Rubio due to his shooting and movement off the ball. He has to stay healthy though . . . Head coach Flip Saunders is high on ZACH LaVINE, a pure athlete who didn't do much of anything as a freshman at UCLA. FORWARDS: THADDEUS YOUNG is now the best player in this Timberwolves frontcourt. He'll lead the team in scoring and eats up rebounds as well . . . ANTHONY BENNETT should play some significant minutes with this team. He's a good scorer and will try to prove that he was just not ready to come into a bad situation last season . . . COREY BREWER has established himself as a solid defender on the wing who can knock down some threes and run the floor well . . . GLENN ROBINSON III should earn immediate minutes due to his defense . . . SHABAZZ MUHAMMAD gets new life with a new coaching regime coming in. He could be a crafty second-unit scorer . . . RONNY TURIAF is a big body who can protect the rim. CENTERS: NIKOLA PEKOVIC is a big part of this offense without needing plays designed for him. He's arguably the top offensive rebounder in the NBA . . . GORGUI DIENG impressed late last season and should be ready for a bigger role. He and Pekovic might be in a timeshare by the season's second half.

*Celtics-Timberwolves Preview* ==============================

By ALAN FERGUSON STATS Writer

Boston (16-27) at Minnesota (7-37), 8:00 p.m. EDT

The Boston Celtics will finish with a winning record on their longest road trip of the season if they can get past the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Celtics will try to send the Timberwolves to an 11th consecutive home loss and sixth in a row overall Wednesday night.

Since opening its trek with a 102-93 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Jan. 19, Boston (16-27) has taken three of four, with its other defeat coming by three points to league-leading Golden State on Sunday.

The Celtics bounced back with a 99-90 win over Utah the next day, their fourth game in five nights. Tayshaun Prince led the way with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting and five assists, his best showing since being acquired from Memphis in a three-team deal Jan. 12.

"That's what makes this special, to go through this with a young team and pull out some wins in this situation," Prince told the team's official website.

Boston went 0-5 on its longest trip in 2013-14 and hasn't finished with a winning mark on a trek this long since going 4-2 from Feb. 11-25, 2009. The team went 4-4 on an eight-game trip in March 2012.

The Celtics have lost their past two games in Minnesota but have taken the last two overall matchups, including a 114-98 victory Dec. 19. The Timberwolves (7-37) were missing five players in that game and won't have Kevin Martin (wrist), Shabazz Muhammad (oblique), Ricky Rubio (ankle) and Robbie Hummel (broken hand) for this one.

Muhammad had a team-best 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting against the Celtics in December.

Boston won't have Kelly Olynyk, who scored a team-leading 21 points in the win over Minnesota, because of a sprained right ankle that will reportedly keep him out for at least two weeks. The Celtics got rookie guard Marcus Smart back on the court Monday following a death in his family.

While Boston has won two of three during Olynyk's absence, Minnesota has continued to struggle while short-handed.

The Timberwolves are on the verge of matching the longest single-season home losing streak in team history, from Jan. 28-March 9, 2009. They've also dropped 21 of 23 overall after a 92-84 loss in Oklahoma City on Monday.

Minnesota had its worst shooting performance of the season (34.1 percent), and is averaging 84.6 points on 39.4 percent shooting during a five-game skid.

Andrew Wiggins, however, has been a bright spot, averaging 19.8 points in his last 18 games. He scored 23 Monday and helped limit Russell Westbrook to 7-of-22 shooting and 18 points, 6.7 below his season average.

"I thought that he could be a great two-way type of player, and I still believe that," coach Flip Saunders said. "He showed signs of that tonight."

Wiggins began his productive stretch after scoring five points in back-to-back contests, the first of which was in Boston. He missed eight of 10 shots versus the Celtics and Thaddeus Young, who has totaled 48 points in the past two games, missed 13 of 19 en route to finishing with 13 points.
