KEY GAME INFORMATION
CHARLOTTE: GUARDS: LANCE STEPHENSON started chucking and padding stats after missing the All-Star team last season, fueling Indiana's collapse. He's a potentially solid role player, but if he tries to be the alpha for the Hornets, it could be a long season . . . KEMBA WALKER has become a solid playmaker, though he'll lose some touches while playing alongside Stephenson . . . The Hornets seem to be done with GERALD HENDERSON, who will stay in the rotation, but see a reduced role with all the Hornets' offseason acquisitions . . . GARY NEAL can play both guard spots as a high-scoring sixth man . . . P.J. HAIRSTON needs to stay out of trouble off the court if he's to have any chance of becoming a three-point specialist off the bench . . . BRIAN ROBERTS steps in as a No. 3 point guard. FORWARDS: Charlotte reloaded in the frontcourt, but MICHAEL KIDD-GILCHRIST will likely claim a starting job due to his defense. It's probably time to accept that MKG will never have much of an offensive game . . . CODY ZELLER will have every opportunity to grab a starting job early on. Unfortunately, his inability to score in traffic limits his effectiveness . . . MARVIN WILLIAMS will see major minutes at both forward spots. He's a capable defender who has added a three-point shot to his repertoire . . . He's still a teenager, so he may not carve out major minutes this year, but NOAH VONLEH has by far the most upside among their 4's and 5's. He's a potentially elite stretch-4 . . . JEFF TAYLOR's Achilles is close to 100 percent. He has a shot to re-claim a rotation spot. CENTERS: AL JEFFERSON is a flawed player, but he gives Charlotte exactly what the team is looking for: A low-post threat on the offensive end of the court. Like Walker, he'll also suffer a bit with Stephenson coming in, but he's still the focal point of this offense . . . He's not quite a bust because he can defend, but BISMACK BIYOMBO hasn't shown any semblance of an offensive game.
MILWAUKEE: GUARDS: The Bucks hope to fill a gaping hole at point guard with a committee approach. BRANDON KNIGHT, an undersized, athletically-overmatched combo guard, will get first crack at the job . . . Ex-Laker KENDALL MARSHALL, a heady floor general who can't shoot or defend, is an option as well . . . KHRIS MIDDLETON, a spot-up shooter, has a good chance to retain his starting job . . . New head coach Jason Kidd will try to rebuild O.J. MAYO, who could emerge as a serviceable sixth man, but looked wholly disinterested last season . . . The arrival of Marshall likely pushes NATE WOLTERS out of the rotation. He could be ticketed for the D-League at some point this season. FORWARDS: JABARI PARKER becomes the new face of this franchise. He can score as well as facilitate the offense. The only real question is what kind of defensive effort he puts in . . . GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO will be used at both forward spots and both guard spots as well. The Greek Freak is raw, but the Bucks will expand his role . . . After a season in Larry Drew's doghouse, the coaching change should bode well for ERSAN ILYASOVA. He's likely looking at a part-time role . . . JOHN HENSON will play some 4 and 5, though his lack of an offensive game limits his appeal . . . JOHNNY O'BRYANT III might push for a rotation spot once he returns from a knee injury in late November. He's one of the few big men on this team who can score around the basket . . . If DAMIEN INGLIS comes over, he's looking at a D-League stint. CENTERS: Kidd is a LARRY SANDERS believer, so after a season filled with injuries and knucklehead behavior, he'll have every chance to bounce back. When he's in the right place, he's an elite rim protector . . . Larry Drew favorite ZAZA PACHULIA is looking at a traditional back-up role now that Drew is gone.

*Hornets-Bucks Preview* =======================

Charlotte (8-19) at Milwaukee (14-14), 8:00 p.m. EDT

(AP) - Sharing the ball is making basketball fun for the Milwaukee Bucks.

They're even winning games at a remarkable rate, at least compared to last year's miserable 15-win season.

The Bucks are 14-14 in Jason Kidd's first year as coach. They've managed to bounce back from rookie Jabari Parker's season-ending left knee injury by going 2-2 on a tough West Coast trip.

Now Milwaukee will try to pass another challenge Tuesday night when the visiting Charlotte Hornets look to extend their longest winning streak of the season to four with their seventh in a row against the Bucks.

Fittingly, Kidd espoused a philosophy on offense to give everyone on the floor a chance to touch the ball. No starting spots were guaranteed. The former All-Star point guard mixed and matched combinations.

Bench play has become just as important as starters' minutes under Kidd. That has built depth, which in turn should help Milwaukee handle the loss of the talented Parker, the second overall pick in this year's NBA draft.

"I think we've said from Day 1 that we're talking about the Bucks, not just one person. That's what we stand for, and you can see it by using everyone on the bench," Kidd said. "Everyone gets a chance to play, and everybody feels a part of it."

Counting Parker, nine Bucks are averaging at least 20 minutes a game. A 10th player, Ersan Ilyasova, was averaging nearly 19 minutes before a broken nose knocked him out for the last nine games.

Ilyasova could be back Tuesday, which would be a big boost for a frontcourt that is also minus reserve power forward John Henson with a sprained left foot.

Parker was averaging 12.3 points and 5.5 rebounds before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in the third quarter against Phoenix on Dec. 16. The Bucks went on to win 96-94.

Forward Jared Dudley has averaged 17.5 points off the bench the last two games. Reserve guard Jerryd Bayless has scored in double figures in six straight games, and seven of the last eight.

Guard Brandon Knight leads the team at 17.5 points per game, while four others are averaging at least 10.1 points. Knight also has averaged 23.0 points and 11.3 assists in his last three versus Charlotte.

The Hornets (9-19), however, are starting to show some life by winning their last three by an average of 21.4 points.

Al Jefferson overcame some early lower-body tightness to finish with 22 points, while Kemba Walker added 18 in Monday's 110-82 rout of visiting Denver. Walker has averaged 23.8 points and hit 11 of 22 from 3-point range in his last four games.

The fourth-year point guard also has scored 24.0 per game in his last three against the Bucks. He had a game-high 26, including a 21-footer with five seconds left in overtime in a season-opening 108-106 home win over Milwaukee.

"He's in the paint in every pick-and-roll," coach Steve Clifford said after Walker had nine assists and just one turnover Monday. "And he can score, but he's (also) kicking the ball out to teammates."

Clifford's club has averaged 107.7 points with a 41.5 3-point percentage during its winning streak, while also limiting opponents to 86.3 per game on 40.3 percent shooting overall.

Hornets swingman Lance Stephenson, who has been the subject of trade rumors, will miss his fourth straight game with a groin injury.
