KEY GAME INFORMATION
CHARLOTTE: GUARDS: RAMON SESSIONS will have to adjust to a major downgrade in teammates, but he has the kind of versatile offensive skill set to be the focal point of this offense . . . The athletic GERALD HENDERSON has made strides the past two seasons. Realistically, his offensive skills are those of a No. 4 or 5 option . . . Coach Mike Dunlap is high on KEMBA WALKER, who was sometimes overwhelmed as a rookie. With a few new sets built in for him, he could thrive as a sixth man getting starter's minutes . . . BEN GORDON won't overtake Henderson, but should see big minutes as the Cats' only shooter . . . REGGIE WILLIAMS is a D-League talent . . . MATT CARROLL, in the final year of his $27 million deal, symbolizes everything that's gone wrong under Michael Jordan. FORWARDS: Drafting MICHAEL KIDD-GILCHRIST was as much about changing the losing culture as it was adding a piece they needed. MKG's statistical output is a question mark, but he'll see big minutes as a defensive stopper and intangibles guy . . . This team is seriously lacking in the post, where they may have no choice but to play TYRUS THOMAS for significant minutes. The talented but uber-underachieving big man claims to have added 20 pounds of muscle in the offseason. If nothing else, they might showcase him in a desperate attempt to get some trade value . . . Rookie JEFFERY TAYLOR figures to make the team and has the versatility and athleticism to be a respectable second-unit guy. CENTERS: Charlotte sees BISMACK BIYOMBO as a franchise cornerstone. He can certainly rebound and block shots, but his offense is atrocious . . . BRENDAN HAYWOOD brings a veteran presence. At his age he can't go more than 15 or so minutes per night . . . BYRON MULLENS never saw a shot he didn't like. He'll get one more chance to prove he's an NBA rotation player, able to play the four or five . . . DeSAGANA DIOP is doing those things that DeSagana Diop does.
MILWAUKEE: GUARDS: BRANDON JENNINGS benefitted from the arrival of Monta Ellis last year. He has the offense and system to thrive, and now needs to prove he can be efficient enough to be a star . . . MONTA ELLIS played second fiddle to Jennings last year, and really struggled to shoot the ball. The Bucks now play the kind of tempo he likes, but he'll have to adjust to playing off the ball more often . . . BENO UDRIH won't see a ton of action off the bench considering Jennings and Ellis play so many minutes. If a starter gets hurt, he could step in and hit a lot of threes . . . Second-rounder DORON LAMB has some upside as a future sixth man, but figures to ride the bench this year once his torn elbow ligament heals. FORWARDS: ERSAN ILYASOVA should finally get some respect from Skiles after starring down the stretch last year . . . MIKE DUNLEAVY re-emerged as a legitimate three-point threat, though he doesn't do much else . . . DREW GOODEN's role should shrink with Ilyasova stepping up and Sam Dalembert coming in . . . LUC RICHARD MBAH a MOUTE is coming off knee surgery, but he's improving as a rebounder and can play both forward spots off the bench . . . Rookie JOHN HENSON is a defensive stud and does enough as a screener to get decent minutes early . . . TOBIAS HARRIS was a Summer League star, but he's too much of a 'tweener to thrive in the NBA . . . EKPE UDOH provides defense and rebounding off the bench . . . LARRY SANDERS has potential, but this frontcourt is too crowded for him to make an impact. CENTERS: SAM DALEMBERT fell in and out of favor in Houston, but he's exactly what the Bucksneed as a defensive presence in the paint. Milwaukee has numerous players who can man the five in spots (Ekpe Udoh, Drew Gooden), but Dalembert is by far their best defensive option and should see big minutes . . . JOEL PRZYBILLA signed on in August to provide back-end depth on the pine.

*Bobcats-Bucks Preview* =======================

By TAYLOR BECHTOLD STATS Writer

Charlotte (17-56) at Milwaukee (35-37), 8:00 p.m. EDT

If they hope to make a run at seventh place in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks really need to take care of business against the NBA-worst Charlotte Bobcats.

The Bucks will try to win for only the fourth time in 12 games and beat the Bobcats for the 10th straight time in Milwaukee on Monday night.

While they have a 5 1/2-game lead over ninth-place Philadelphia, the Bucks (35-37) have dropped five of six and are struggling to gain ground on seventh-place Boston.

Milwaukee plays only four of its remaining 10 games at home.

The Bucks had a five-point lead on their home court early in the fourth quarter Saturday, but Oklahoma City put together a 19-2 run down the stretch and cruised to a 109-99 win.

"I thought that we competed and from that perspective, I was very happy with our physical effort," said coach Jim Boylan, whose club shot 37.8 percent. "We just didn't make enough shots."

That was certainly the case for Milwaukee leading scorer Monta Ellis, who scored nine points and shot 3 of 17.

Ellis had 31 points against the Bobcats in a 102-98 loss Nov. 19, but managed 13 while going 3 for 11 in a 108-93 home win Dec. 7.

That was the team's ninth straight victory over Charlotte at the Bradley Center and 14th in 15 all-time meetings there.

After a 100-92 defeat to Philadelphia on Saturday, the Bobcats (17-56) wrap up their three-game trip looking to snap a 10-game road skid. Charlotte has lost by an average of 20.2 points during that slide and is a league-worst 6-31 on the road.

Rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist may be able to provide a spark after totaling 35 points and 17 rebounds while shooting 15 of 22 in his last two games.

Gerald Henderson is also playing well, averaging 29.3 points while making 55.8 percent from the field in his last three. He's scored 20.7 per game and hit 54.8 percent in his last three against the Bucks.

While the Bobcats rank last in the NBA with a 42.2 field-goal percentage and near the bottom at 93.5 points per game, they've averaged 102.7 points in their last three contests and hit 50.0 percent from the field against the 76ers.

"When you come out of games like this, you emphasize what you did well," coach Mike Dunlap said Saturday. "We played well on both sides."

They may be able to maintain that pace against the Bucks, who have given up 103.6 points over their last five contests.

After leading Milwaukee with 21 points and 12 rebounds in the December win over Charlotte, Ersan Ilyasova could be a factor again in this meeting as he's averaged 21.1 points and 12.3 rebounds in his last seven games.

Point guard Brandon Jennings hasn't been nearly as productive, averaging 8.8 points and 25.0 percent from the field - 6 for 28 from 3-point range - in his last five contests.

Milwaukee, which has averaged 106.8 points in its last nine at home, will be facing a Charlotte team that's allowed 107.0 in its last four overall.
