| |  | ORLANDO: GUARDS: With Dwight Howard gone, this becomes JAMEER NELSON's team on the offensive end. Injuries slowed him a year ago, but he still does a nice job creating his own scoring chances . . . ARRON AFFLALO will provide some much-needed defense on the perimeter, a huge team weakness that will be exploited in the post-Howard era. He'll be a No. 2 or 3 option on the offensive end as well . . . J.J. REDICK has a chance for a bigger role in what should be a transitional year in Orlando. He's no more of a defensive liability than Nelson . . . CHRISTIAN EYENGA was a throw-in during the Dwight Howard trade and defends well enough to earn a roster spot . . . ISHMAEL SMITH will back up Nelson once he returns from a shoulder injury . . . E'TWAUN MOORE has played well enough in the preseason to spell Nelson too. FORWARDS: HEDO TURKOGLU still has some value as a point forward, though his minutes could shrink as Orlando rebuilds . . . GLEN DAVIS shined in Howard's absence last year. He's inefficient, but aggressive and willing to throw his weight around . . . Keep an eye on ANDREW NICHOLSON; the rookie is a crafty scorer who can shoot away from the basket . . . QUENTIN RICHARDSON will chug along as an injury-prone, three-point specialist . . . AL HARRINGTON is coming off a couple knee surgeries and may not have much left in the tank . . . MOE HARKLESS is athletic, versatile, and could get a long look in the second half of the year . . . GUSTAVO AYON is a capable big body who can play some center . . . JUSTIN HARPER will be buried on the bench . . . JOSH McROBERTS is not good. CENTERS: Davis figures to see a lot of minutes at center, but NIKOLA VUCEVIC is a much better defensive option. He's limited offensively, but could start grabbing more minutes in the middle as the year goes on . . . KYLE O'QUINN is a big body who can score around the basket. He has a rough transition ahead of him as an average athlete from a small school. | | MILWAUKEE: GUARDS: BRANDON JENNINGS benefitted from the arrival of Monta Ellis last year. He has the offense and system to thrive, and now needs to prove he can be efficient enough to be a star . . . MONTA ELLIS played second fiddle to Jennings last year, and really struggled to shoot the ball. The Bucks now play the kind of tempo he likes, but he'll have to adjust to playing off the ball more often . . . BENO UDRIH won't see a ton of action off the bench considering Jennings and Ellis play so many minutes. If a starter gets hurt, he could step in and hit a lot of threes . . . Second-rounder DORON LAMB has some upside as a future sixth man, but figures to ride the bench this year once his torn elbow ligament heals. FORWARDS: ERSAN ILYASOVA should finally get some respect from Skiles after starring down the stretch last year . . . MIKE DUNLEAVY re-emerged as a legitimate three-point threat, though he doesn't do much else . . . DREW GOODEN's role should shrink with Ilyasova stepping up and Sam Dalembert coming in . . . LUC RICHARD MBAH a MOUTE is coming off knee surgery, but he's improving as a rebounder and can play both forward spots off the bench . . . Rookie JOHN HENSON is a defensive stud and does enough as a screener to get decent minutes early . . . TOBIAS HARRIS was a Summer League star, but he's too much of a 'tweener to thrive in the NBA . . . EKPE UDOH provides defense and rebounding off the bench . . . LARRY SANDERS has potential, but this frontcourt is too crowded for him to make an impact. CENTERS: SAM DALEMBERT fell in and out of favor in Houston, but he's exactly what the Bucksneed as a defensive presence in the paint. Milwaukee has numerous players who can man the five in spots (Ekpe Udoh, Drew Gooden), but Dalembert is by far their best defensive option and should see big minutes . . . JOEL PRZYBILLA signed on in August to provide back-end depth on the pine. |

The Milwaukee Bucks have cooled off this week, but a visit from an injury-plagued opponent could help them get back in the win column.
The Bucks appear to have a good chance to end their string of seven straight losses to the Orlando Magic on Saturday night.
Milwaukee (24-21) won eight of its first 11 under interim coach Jim Boylan, but it has since sputtered offensively in back-to-back losses. After falling 104-88 to visiting Chicago on Wednesday, the Bucks were a little more competitive Friday but the result was the same.
They led for much of the first three quarters at New York before the Knicks pulled away in the final period to win 96-86. Ersan Ilyasova had a team-best 19 points, but Milwaukee totaled 13 in the fourth quarter and fell to 1-11 when shooting under 40.0 percent from the field.
"For us offensively, we just kind of hit a wall there. We couldn't score enough points," Boylan said. "We were searching for offense pretty much the whole second half.
"We only had 20 points in the third quarter and we've been a pretty good third-quarter team coming out of the locker room. But tonight for whatever reason, we just didn't have enough."
Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis combined to miss 26 of 38 shots. Jennings, who had 14 points on a 5-of-18 performance, was 6 for 18 in Wednesday's defeat.
Ellis, who had 16 points Friday, is shooting 34.8 percent over his last four games.
Although it's been more than two years since the Bucks last beat Orlando, this is the teams' first meeting this season, and the Magic (14-32) have dropped eight straight and 19 of 21 overall. They played their third straight game without leading scorer Arron Afflalo and the first in a long stretch without Glen Davis on Friday, losing 97-84 at Boston.
Point guard Jameer Nelson suffered a bruised left forearm in that defeat and had to sit out the second half. Nelson, producing 14.9 points and 7.2 assists per game, said he'll have to see how feels Saturday.
Afflalo, averaging 16.7 points, is dealing with a strained calf and his status is unknown for this game, while Davis is out for the season after breaking his left foot Wednesday at New York. The sixth-year forward was averaging career highs of 15.1 points and 7.2 rebounds.
"It's part of basketball and we'll continue to deal with it," coach Jacque Vaughn said. "It means other guys have to fill in and fill roles and we'll keep at it."
Three of Orlando's top four scorers from last season's four-game sweep of the Bucks are on other teams, and the one still around - Hedo Turkoglu - has seen limited action in three games since returning from a hand injury. The Magic's two wins in Milwaukee in 2011-12 came by a combined eight points.
After their difficult shooting night, Ellis and Jennings should play key roles as the Bucks attempt to end their struggles against Orlando. Ellis has scored 30 points or more in three of his last four matchups with the Magic, but has yet to face them while in a Milwaukee uniform.
Jennings is 7 of 43 (16.3 percent) from 3-point range in his last six versus Orlando, but he's 21 of 43 (48.8 percent) in his last six games overall.
