KEY GAME INFORMATION
MIAMI: LAST SEASON: 44-38, lost in Eastern Conference first round.
COACH: Erik Spoelstra (11th season).
PROJECTED STARTING FIVE: G Goran Dragic (17.3 ppg), G Tyler Johnson (11.7 ppg), F Josh Richardson (12.9 ppg), F Kelly Olynyk (11.5 ppg), C Hassan Whiteside (14.0 ppg).
KEY LOSSES: None
KEY ADDITIONS: None
PLAYERS TO WATCH: It's the final season for Dwyane Wade, who is still going to be a vital piece of the puzzle if Miami is going to have success this season. Whiteside needs to return to past form, after a frustrating 2017-18 season where he was dogged by injuries.
OUTLOOK: The Heat brought back virtually the same team, with the exception of some new players on two-way deals. It speaks to a few things ' how they didn't have much financial flexibility this summer with so many players under long-term contracts, but also a belief that if healthy Miami can compete in an East that no longer has LeBron James. That being said, the health concerns are already evident in how Dion Waiters won't be ready to return for several more weeks while he continues rehabbing his surgically repaired ankle and James Johnson missed the preseason while recovering from hernia surgery.
LA LAKERS: LAST SEASON: 35-47, missed playoffs.
COACH: Luke Walton (third season).
PROJECTED STARTING FIVE: G Rajon Rondo (8.3 ppg, New Orleans), G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (13.4 ppg), F Brandon Ingram (16.1 ppg), F LeBron James, (27.5 ppg, Cleveland), C JaVale McGee (4.8 ppg, Golden State).
KEY LOSSES: F Julius Randle, G Isaiah Thomas, C Brook Lopez
KEY ADDITIONS: James, Rondo, McGee, G Lance Stephenson, F Michael Beasley
PLAYERS TO WATCH: The biggest star in basketball joined this glamorous franchise as a free agent. After appearing in eight straight NBA Finals and winning three titles, the 33-year-old James accepted the challenge of starting over on the West Coast with several fellow veteran newcomers and a fairly talented young Lakers core. His ability to get the most out of this mix will be one of the NBA's most compelling story lines.
OUTLOOK: James' ability to carry a team is unquestionable, and he arguably succeeded with less help in Cleveland than he should get from these Lakers. No serious observers believe the Lakers can compete with Golden State or join Houston and Boston as true contenders for the Warriors' throne, but ending the Lakers' franchise-record five-year playoff drought would be a promising start to the LeBron era in LA.
PREVIEW
Heat look to remain hot as they visit James, Lakers

The Miami Heat have won four of five for the first time this season and they'll try to stay on a roll when they visit the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center on Monday.

The Heat (11-14) are coming off back-to-back double-digit road wins against the Phoenix Suns on Friday and the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

The Lakers (16-10) will also be playing their third game in four days after losing at the San Antonio Spurs on Friday and winning at the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. Los Angeles has won five of its past six.

The Lakers beat the Heat 113-97 in Miami on Nov. 18.

Lakers forward LeBron James scored a season-high 51 points in his return to Miami, where he played four seasons, reaching the 50-point mark for the 13th time in his career.

The rematch on Monday will be the final time James and Miami guard Dwyane Wade will be on the floor together. Wade is retiring after this season.

James and Wade teamed up when James signed with the Heat in the summer of 2010. They led Miami to four straight NBA Finals appearances, winning two championships before James returned to Cleveland following the 2013-14 season.

"It's bitter and it's sweet. It's sweet and sour," James told the Orange County Register. "The sweet part about it is I've always loved being on the same floor with my brother. We struck up a relationship together at the Combine in 2003 and it started from there. And the sour part about it is that this is our last time sharing the same court."

The Lakers will be without forward Brandon Ingram for the third straight game. He sustained a sprained left ankle against the visiting Spurs on Wednesday. Ingram is third on the team in scoring at 15.2 points a game.

The Heat might also be short-handed.

Josh Richardson, the starting shooting guard for Miami and the team's leading scorer at 19.2 points a game, missed Saturday's game with a shoulder impingement. Tyler Johnson, who started in place of Richardson against the Clippers, left the game with a left hip contusion.

Goran Dragic also didn't the Clippers so he could rest, and Hassan Whiteside (personal reasons), Wayne Ellington (personal reasons) and Dion Waiters (ankle surgery) are not on the trip.

Miami coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters after the win against the Clippers that he's impressed with his team's perseverance.

"When you're coaching in this league, you want to have a group like this," Spoelstra said. "When they show up for shootaround and you know that even more guys are not playing, that guys look forward to the challenge instead of trying to make an excuse and get on to the next game. So we really had to show a tremendous amount of perseverance and grit in this, and get a lot of contributions. You can't just talk about grit, guys have to actually play well and step up."
