| |  | TORONTO: GUARDS: KYLE LOWRY is healthy again and will be handed the reigns. He could be the Raptors best player on both ends of the floor . . . As of now, JOSE CALDERON is still on the roster, but he's not long for Toronto with Lowry's arrival. He won't start over Lowry, but he could see decent minutes as the Raptors attempt to showcase him . . . With Toronto's influx of new talent, DeMAR DeROZAN could be marginalized on the offensive end. He hasn't really progressed past the dunker/raw athlete stage of his career . . . Rookie TERRENCE ROSS can just about match DeRozan's athleticism, and while he has no handle, he's a potentially deadly three-point threat . . . JOHN LUCAS III will back up both guard spots . . . ALAN ANDERSON returns as a defensive stopper in the second unit. FORWARDS: ANDREA BARGNANI makes his triumphant return and will likely go back to the perimeter. The Raptors have beefed up in the middle so Bargnani can play outside more . . . LANDRY FIELDS plays enough defense to earn minutes, but it seems like his signing was more a result of Toronto playing cap games to try to land Steve Nash. He'll likely platoon with Terrence Ross . . . ED DAVIS made some strides this offseason, but he's still not where the Raptors want him to be on the offensive end . . . LINAS KLEIZA's knee should be in better shape this season. The Raptors want more shooting, and he has a chance to grab a bigger role . . . Toronto will do everything it can to get out from under AMIR JOHNSON's contract . . . DOMINIC McGUIRE figures to occupy the final seat on the Raptors bench. CENTERS: JONAS VALANCIUNAS would have been the No. 2 pick of the draft had he come out a year later. He's a wiry, strong athlete who's physical down low with soft touch out to 10 feet. Toronto sees him as a franchise cornerstone who meshes nicely with Bargnani . . . AARON GRAY should provide ample competition for the starting center job. | | GOLDEN STATE: GUARDS: STEPHEN CURRY is this offense's engine and a stat-stuffing machine, as long as he's healthy. His ankle should be healed, but his small frame hasn't proven to be up to the rigors of the NBA . . . KLAY THOMPSON is a pure shooter who played himself into a starting job last year. He's a bit one-dimensional, but this spread, up-tempo offense is right up his alley . . . JARRETT JACK will back up both guard spots and provide some insurance for the fragile Curry . . . BRANDON RUSH is going to push for a starting job, but he's never proven to be more than a second-unit talent . . . As a rookie, CHARLES JENKINS proved worthy of a roster spot during his late-season audition. But he'll be looking at a lot of DNP-CDs as long as Curry and Jack are healthy. FORWARDS: DAVID LEE's touches will drop alongside Andrew Bogut. The Warriors seem prepared to give him major minutes despite his defensive shortcomings . . . HARRISON BARNES should push for a starting job early. He's not a great iso player, but the Warriors' offense should set him up with catch-and-score opportunities . . . CARL LANDRY is active around the basket and should do some damage over 20 MPG . . . RICHARD JEFFERSON is going to be in a mentor role until his contract expires in two years . . . JEREMY TYLER is young and a borderline usable big off the bench . . . Second-rounder DRAYMOND GREEN isn't an athlete but does a bit of everything. He figures to have a limited role as a rookie. CENTERS: His fractured ankle is not quite 100 percent, but ANDREW BOGUT hopes to be healed enough when the season starts to be the centerpiece of the frontcourt. He can rebound and defend, and he'll get his share of easy scoring opportunities with so many shooters spreading the floor . . . The Warriors seem content to let ANDRIS BIEDRINS rot on the bench . . . Rookie FESTUS EZELI is too raw offensively to see significant minutes. |

The longest homestand of their season might be exactly what the Golden State Warriors need.
After playing 10 of their last 13 on the road - and winning just once away from home in that stretch - they'll host the Toronto Raptors on Monday night in the first of seven straight at home. It's a series Golden State has dominated lately with six wins in seven meetings and seven consecutive victories in Oakland.
The Warriors (33-27) finished their five-game trip with four consecutive losses, and their only win in 10 road games over the past month was a one-point victory at Minnesota.
At home, on the other hand, Golden State has won six of its last seven, including victories over the Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City and San Antonio. The Warriors are 18-7 in Oakland, where they'll play 15 of their next 19.
They have particularly struggled defensively away from home, allowing 104.4 points per game compared to 97.5 on their home floor.
Coach Mark Jackson's squad still owns one of the league's 10 best scoring offenses, with some spectacular efforts from Stephen Curry leading the way lately, but it hasn't been able to overcome poor defense during the recent road-heavy schedule.
Golden State is yielding 109.1 points per game on 47.1 percent shooting - 39.2 percent from 3-point range - over its last 13 contests. Opponents averaged 99.4 points as the team started the season 30-17.
Curry, who has scored at least 25 in four straight - including a 54-point performance at New York on Wednesday - is averaging 27.6 points on 54.4 percent shooting in five career games against the Raptors, all victories. The Warriors are looking to clean up some recent sloppiness on offense, though, with 18 or more turnovers in four of their last five.
"Our problem was not offensively, our problem was defensively," Jackson said after Saturday's 104-97 loss at Philadelphia, in which Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 59 points. "Our offense is not going to win ballgames. Defensively is how we got it done and taking care of the basketball, and those two things are hurting us right now."
Toronto (23-37) won seven of its first 10 after acquiring Rudy Gay, but has since lost four in a row. Gay, averaging 20.5 points with the Raptors, was a late scratch because of back spasms before a 122-114 overtime loss at Milwaukee on Saturday.
Kyle Lowry had a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as seven Toronto players scored in double figures. The Raptors scored more than 92 points for the first time during their skid, but they let the Bucks shoot 50.0 percent.
"I loved our fight with Rudy being out," coach Dwane Casey said. "Our guys are pulling together, pulling for each other."
The Warriors won 114-102 at Toronto on Jan. 28. David Lee had 21 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists as Golden State hit 53.5 percent from the field.
The Raptors have yielded an average of 119.1 points during their seven straight losses in Oakland, including a 138-100 drubbing in their most recent visit March 25, 2011.
