| | | ORLANDO: GUARDS: With Dwight Howard gone, this becomes JAMEER NELSON's team on the offensive end. Injuries slowed him a year ago, but he still does a nice job creating his own scoring chances . . . ARRON AFFLALO will provide some much-needed defense on the perimeter, a huge team weakness that will be exploited in the post-Howard era. He'll be a No. 2 or 3 option on the offensive end as well . . . J.J. REDICK has a chance for a bigger role in what should be a transitional year in Orlando. He's no more of a defensive liability than Nelson . . . CHRISTIAN EYENGA was a throw-in during the Dwight Howard trade and defends well enough to earn a roster spot . . . ISHMAEL SMITH will back up Nelson once he returns from a shoulder injury . . . E'TWAUN MOORE has played well enough in the preseason to spell Nelson too. FORWARDS: HEDO TURKOGLU still has some value as a point forward, though his minutes could shrink as Orlando rebuilds . . . GLEN DAVIS shined in Howard's absence last year. He's inefficient, but aggressive and willing to throw his weight around . . . Keep an eye on ANDREW NICHOLSON; the rookie is a crafty scorer who can shoot away from the basket . . . QUENTIN RICHARDSON will chug along as an injury-prone, three-point specialist . . . AL HARRINGTON is coming off a couple knee surgeries and may not have much left in the tank . . . MOE HARKLESS is athletic, versatile, and could get a long look in the second half of the year . . . GUSTAVO AYON is a capable big body who can play some center . . . JUSTIN HARPER will be buried on the bench . . . JOSH McROBERTS is not good. CENTERS: Davis figures to see a lot of minutes at center, but NIKOLA VUCEVIC is a much better defensive option. He's limited offensively, but could start grabbing more minutes in the middle as the year goes on . . . KYLE O'QUINN is a big body who can score around the basket. He has a rough transition ahead of him as an average athlete from a small school. | | GOLDEN STATE: GUARDS: STEPHEN CURRY is this offense's engine and a stat-stuffing machine, as long as he's healthy. His ankle should be healed, but his small frame hasn't proven to be up to the rigors of the NBA . . . KLAY THOMPSON is a pure shooter who played himself into a starting job last year. He's a bit one-dimensional, but this spread, up-tempo offense is right up his alley . . . JARRETT JACK will back up both guard spots and provide some insurance for the fragile Curry . . . BRANDON RUSH is going to push for a starting job, but he's never proven to be more than a second-unit talent . . . As a rookie, CHARLES JENKINS proved worthy of a roster spot during his late-season audition. But he'll be looking at a lot of DNP-CDs as long as Curry and Jack are healthy. FORWARDS: DAVID LEE's touches will drop alongside Andrew Bogut. The Warriors seem prepared to give him major minutes despite his defensive shortcomings . . . HARRISON BARNES should push for a starting job early. He's not a great iso player, but the Warriors' offense should set him up with catch-and-score opportunities . . . CARL LANDRY is active around the basket and should do some damage over 20 MPG . . . RICHARD JEFFERSON is going to be in a mentor role until his contract expires in two years . . . JEREMY TYLER is young and a borderline usable big off the bench . . . Second-rounder DRAYMOND GREEN isn't an athlete but does a bit of everything. He figures to have a limited role as a rookie. CENTERS: His fractured ankle is not quite 100 percent, but ANDREW BOGUT hopes to be healed enough when the season starts to be the centerpiece of the frontcourt. He can rebound and defend, and he'll get his share of easy scoring opportunities with so many shooters spreading the floor . . . The Warriors seem content to let ANDRIS BIEDRINS rot on the bench . . . Rookie FESTUS EZELI is too raw offensively to see significant minutes. |

*Magic-Warriors Preview* ========================
By SANTOSH VENKATARAMAN STATS Senior Writer
Orlando (5-10) at Golden State (10-6), 10:30 p.m. EDT
The Golden State Warriors never won four straight games in coach Mark Jackson's first season.
Stephen Curry and the surprising Warriors have the opportunity to accomplish the feat in year two under Jackson on Monday night when they host the Orlando Magic.
Jackson's first season as an NBA coach was a difficult one as Golden State (10-6) finished with the Western Conference's third-worst record in the franchise's fourth straight losing campaign. It's been a different story in 2012-13, with his club tied with the Clippers atop the Pacific Division.
"We're learning how to finish ballgames, we're learning how to execute," Jackson said. "We're learning how to value possessions, and we're learning how to defend."
Curry has scored exactly 20 points in each game of this win streak, posting back-to-back double-doubles for the first time since his rookie season. He had a season-high 11 assists in Saturday's 103-92 win over Indiana.
"He's playing on a level that we thought he would play at," Jackson said. "Leading his team, making plays down the stretch, defending - it's great to see."
Klay Thompson has averaged 22.3 points in the last three games after he had 22 on Saturday. He's shooting 46.7 percent over his last five contests after shooting 33.3 percent over his first 11.
David Lee, averaging 19.4 points on 55.4 percent shooting at home, is also sensing a different attitude. The forward is in his eighth overall season, having never played for a winning team.
"We've played very well and we've had a couple great wins in a row," Lee said. "I feel like everyone is playing their role."
The Warriors are also seeking their first six-game home streak since the 2006-07 season.
The last time Golden State played Orlando (6-10), Dwight Howard set an NBA record with 39 free-throw attempts and had 45 points and 23 rebounds in a 117-109 road victory Jan. 12 that was the Magic's sixth in seven tries in this series.
Orlando played its first game against Howard and emerged with a 113-103 road victory over the Lakers on Sunday. Arron Afflalo scored a season-high 30 points as the Magic snapped a three-game slide.
"The way we lost the past three games, I'm sure our fans just wanted to see us win in general," said Afflalo, averaging a team-high 15.6 points. "But for us to kick-start this road trip by playing well, against the Lakers in particular, they should be proud of that. It's a huge confidence boost for us."
Glen Davis had 23 points and 12 rebounds for his seventh double-double. Davis is averaging a career-high 15.3 points as he has tried to shoulder the bulk of the inside scoring load with Howard gone.
"Glen was extremely focused," Afflalo said. "That was his position. He's done an amazing job all year long."
Jameer Nelson had 19 points and 13 assists after nearly sitting out with tendinitis that forced him to miss Friday's 98-86 defeat against Brooklyn.
The Magic are 0-2 when playing the second half of games on consecutive nights, averaging 73.5 points on 36.4 percent shooting in those defeats.
The Warriors are 4-0 against Eastern Conference foes - all at home.
