| |  | GOLDEN STATE: GUARDS: STEPHEN CURRY is this offense's engine and a stat-stuffing machine, as long as he's healthy. His ankle should be healed, but his small frame hasn't proven to be up to the rigors of the NBA . . . KLAY THOMPSON is a pure shooter who played himself into a starting job last year. He's a bit one-dimensional, but this spread, up-tempo offense is right up his alley . . . JARRETT JACK will back up both guard spots and provide some insurance for the fragile Curry . . . BRANDON RUSH is going to push for a starting job, but he's never proven to be more than a second-unit talent . . . As a rookie, CHARLES JENKINS proved worthy of a roster spot during his late-season audition. But he'll be looking at a lot of DNP-CDs as long as Curry and Jack are healthy. FORWARDS: DAVID LEE's touches will drop alongside Andrew Bogut. The Warriors seem prepared to give him major minutes despite his defensive shortcomings . . . HARRISON BARNES should push for a starting job early. He's not a great iso player, but the Warriors' offense should set him up with catch-and-score opportunities . . . CARL LANDRY is active around the basket and should do some damage over 20 MPG . . . RICHARD JEFFERSON is going to be in a mentor role until his contract expires in two years . . . JEREMY TYLER is young and a borderline usable big off the bench . . . Second-rounder DRAYMOND GREEN isn't an athlete but does a bit of everything. He figures to have a limited role as a rookie. CENTERS: His fractured ankle is not quite 100 percent, but ANDREW BOGUT hopes to be healed enough when the season starts to be the centerpiece of the frontcourt. He can rebound and defend, and he'll get his share of easy scoring opportunities with so many shooters spreading the floor . . . The Warriors seem content to let ANDRIS BIEDRINS rot on the bench . . . Rookie FESTUS EZELI is too raw offensively to see significant minutes. | | DETROIT: GUARDS: RODNEY STUCKEY was hampered by nagging injuries a year ago. If he's healthy, he's the best offensive weapon they have . . . BRANDON KNIGHT is more of a combo guard running the point. He can shoot, but doesn't bring much else to the table . . . With Ben Gordon gone, WILL BYNUM has a chance to regain a significant role . . . The Pistons' two second-round picks have a chance to carve out big roles. KIM ENGLISH has a skill set similar to Gordon's, capable of heating up and scoring in bunches . . . KHRIS MIDDLETON is more of a spot-up, catch-and-shoot threat only . . . Former No. 6 overall pick JONNY FLYNN agreed to a non-guaranteed contract in October, as he is no guarantee to even make this sorry roster. FORWARDS: TAYSHAUN PRINCE is still hanging on as the Pistons' best all-around player . . . JASON MAXIELL should be able to reclaim his starting spot early. He rebounds and takes up space . . . JONAS JEREBKO showed flashes but looked rusty in his first year back from an Achilles injury . . . 2011 2nd-rounder KYLE SINGLER has a good chance to step into the rotation after a solid year in Spain . . . COREY MAGGETTE was acquired in a Ben Gordon salary dump. He'll see limited minutes . . . AUSTIN DAYE regressed big-time last year. Unless he gets off to a hot start, he'll be on the outside looking in at the rotation . . . TERRENCE WILLIAMS is seeking a new lease on life, but could be too much of a head case to realize he's wasting his talent . . . The Pistons are counting down the days left on CHARLIE VILLANUEVA's contract (two years). CENTERS: GREG MONROE is a solid fit in Frank's system. He's not a great athlete, but he can score and move the ball on offense, as well as rebound . . . ANDRE DRUMMOND could one day be a perfect fit alongside Monroe. But for now, he'll watch and learn as a raw, boom-or-bust prospect . . . VIACHESLAV KRAVTSOV is an athletic big who will bring energy, but little offense in limited minutes. |

The Detroit Pistons have played some outstanding defense since their franchise-worst start, especially at home.
Detroit will look to win six straight at The Palace of Auburn Hills for the first time in nearly five years Wednesday night against a Golden State Warriors team opening a season-high seven-game trip.
Since stumbling out of the block with eight losses, the Pistons (6-13) have regained their footing by surrendering 91.7 points per game on 40.6 percent shooting.
Jason Maxiell had five of Detroit's 13 blocks, the team's most since 2007, as it opened a three-game homestand with Monday's 89-79 victory over Cleveland. The Pistons are limiting opponents to 86.0 points per game and 38.9 percent from the field during their surge at Auburn Hills.
"We're doing the right things - I'm not quite sure what they are," guard Kyle Singler told the Pistons' official website. "You can break it down to little things. But the big thing is we're just getting stops consistently and guys are putting forth a good amount of effort. In my opinion, we didn't really change much."
The Pistons will try to keep that momentum going as they go for their first six-game home winning streak since a seven-game run March 14-April 4, 2008.
"Letting teams know it's going to be tough to get a win at The Palace, that's the type of mentality we want to have," said point guard Brandon Knight, who is averaging 19.5 points - 6.0 more than his season mark - and 4.0 assists in the last four home games. "We also want to take that mentality with us on the road."
The Warriors (10-7) are in a similar position as they're coming off a 102-94 loss to Orlando on Monday that ended their five-game home winning streak.
Golden State was outscored by eight in the fourth quarter in being denied its first four-game run in coach Mark Jackson's tenure, but the Warriors are now focused on improving their 4-4 road mark.
"Just a disappointing loss, but we'll learn from it and get better," said Jackson, whose team is traveling to play an Eastern Conference club for the first time after taking four of five such matchups at home.
"Look forward to going on the road, but certainly we didn't play our brand of basketball."
However, Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is playing some of the best ball of his career. He's tallied 20 or more points in each of the last four games - shooting 15 for 28 from 3-point range - and has handed out 10 or more assists in three straight contests for the first time.
A sprained right ankle sidelined Curry for the last game versus Detroit on Jan. 15, when David Lee finished with 24 points to lead Golden State to a 99-91 road win.
The Pistons had won four straight and 15 of 16 at home in the series.
