| |  | GOLDEN STATE: GUARDS: STEPHEN CURRY is this offense's engine and a stat-stuffing machine, as long as he's healthy. His ankle should be healed, but his small frame hasn't proven to be up to the rigors of the NBA . . . KLAY THOMPSON is a pure shooter who played himself into a starting job last year. He's a bit one-dimensional, but this spread, up-tempo offense is right up his alley . . . JARRETT JACK will back up both guard spots and provide some insurance for the fragile Curry . . . BRANDON RUSH is going to push for a starting job, but he's never proven to be more than a second-unit talent . . . As a rookie, CHARLES JENKINS proved worthy of a roster spot during his late-season audition. But he'll be looking at a lot of DNP-CDs as long as Curry and Jack are healthy. FORWARDS: DAVID LEE's touches will drop alongside Andrew Bogut. The Warriors seem prepared to give him major minutes despite his defensive shortcomings . . . HARRISON BARNES should push for a starting job early. He's not a great iso player, but the Warriors' offense should set him up with catch-and-score opportunities . . . CARL LANDRY is active around the basket and should do some damage over 20 MPG . . . RICHARD JEFFERSON is going to be in a mentor role until his contract expires in two years . . . JEREMY TYLER is young and a borderline usable big off the bench . . . Second-rounder DRAYMOND GREEN isn't an athlete but does a bit of everything. He figures to have a limited role as a rookie. CENTERS: His fractured ankle is not quite 100 percent, but ANDREW BOGUT hopes to be healed enough when the season starts to be the centerpiece of the frontcourt. He can rebound and defend, and he'll get his share of easy scoring opportunities with so many shooters spreading the floor . . . The Warriors seem content to let ANDRIS BIEDRINS rot on the bench . . . Rookie FESTUS EZELI is too raw offensively to see significant minutes. | | CLEVELAND: GUARDS: KYRIE IRVING is the real deal, a heady playmaker and near-elite shooter. He should emerge as the NBA's next great point guard this season . . . Rookie DION WAITERS has a chance to step right into the starting lineup. He can get to the rim and generally makes good choices withthe ball. The only thing holding him back is defense after playing college ball in Syracuse's lazy zone . . . C.J. MILES will reportedly start at either the two or three spot, but he really needs to find the range on his shot again for him to stick in the starting lineup . . . Gunning combo guard DANIEL GIBSON is looking like he'll be their sixth man . . . The Cavs are still trying to figure out their second unit. JEREMY PARGO figures to be Irving's backup, but DONALD SLOAN is a better defender and could eventually pass him for this role, which doesn't mean many minutes unless Irving gets injured again. FORWARDS: TRISTAN THOMPSON is trying to add a perimeter shot to his repertoire. Don't count on him becoming David West, but he should improve offensively to go along with his rebounding and shot-blocking . . . ALONZO GEE returns as the starting small forward, excelling on the defensive end, but without a polished enough offensive game to earn 35 minutes per night . . . OMRI CASSPI was in and out of the rotation late in the year as he battled knee issues. It's getting close to make-or-break time for him . . . JON LEUER is a solid stretch four who has a real chance at a rotation spot . . . SAMARDO SAMUELS reportedly dropped some weight in his effort to find some minutes . . . LUKE WALTON is an unofficial member of the coaching staff . . . Undrafted rookie KEVIN JONES could make some noise with his work on the offensive boards . . . LUKE HARANGODY is more of a D-League talent. CENTERS: ANDERSON VAREJAO's wrist should be 100 percent, and Sideshow Anderson should be the same relentless, double-double threat he's always been . . . Rookie TYLER ZELLER is a 7-footer with some nice offensive skills -- he can knock down a jump shot in the half court, and run the floor. He'll struggle to defend in space, but made a living drawing charges at UNC, and should be able to play 20+ minutes as a rookie. |

Just when the Golden State Warriors were finally able to put the lineup they wanted on the floor, they'll likely be short-handed again.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers will look to ride Kyrie Irving's hot streak to their first four-game winning streak since LeBron James left when they host the Warriors on Tuesday night.
Golden State (27-17) got Andrew Bogut back for Monday's 114-102 win at Toronto, but also saw Stephen Curry depart in the third quarter after twisting his right ankle. Curry, averaging a career-best 21.0 points while shooting 45.2 percent from 3-point range, missed two games earlier this month with a sprain to the same ankle.
The fourth-year guard's status for Tuesday's game is uncertain.
"As long as I'm not putting myself in jeopardy to go play, I'm trying to get back out there," Curry said.
Bogut played for the first time since Nov. 7 after missing 38 games because of soreness in his surgically repaired left ankle, and had 12 points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes. He'll likely sit out Tuesday's game since it's the second leg of a back-to-back, but his impact wasn't lost on coach Mark Jackson, who said Bogut "completes us as a team."
"He was great," Jackson said of the former No. 1 overall draft pick. "You can tell we're a different basketball team with him on the floor. He's a weapon on the offensive end with his ability to pass, his ability to defend, rebound, block shots and also make plays."
Teammate David Lee said Bogut's biggest contribution is his defense, where the 7-footer had four blocked shots against the Raptors.
"I felt like I became a better defender tonight because he's constantly talking to me and constantly rotating to get my back," said Lee, who had 21 points and 12 rebounds, his NBA-leading 18th game with at least 20 and 10.
Cleveland (13-32) has won three in a row for only the third time in the last three seasons, primarily on the strength of Irving's torrid stretch. Irving has averaged 35.7 points during the run, capped off by a game-winning 3-pointer in the closing moments of Saturday's 99-98 victory at Toronto.
After being picked for his first All-Star team last week, Irving was named the Eastern Conference's player of the week Monday. Coach Byron Scott recently told him he was being too passive, and the message apparently resonated.
"He understands we need him to be aggressive from the time he steps on the floor until the time he comes out of the game," Scott said of Irving, the NBA's sixth-leading scorer at 24.2 points per game.
Irving has joined James, Bernard King, John Drew and Kevin Durant as the only players with three straight 30-point games before their 21st birthday.
He'll try to help Cleveland snap a four-game losing streak against Golden State, including a 106-96 road loss Nov. 7. Irving played well in Oakland, posting 28 points, seven assists and six rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Warriors, who were led by Lee's 22 points and 14 rebounds.
