KEY GAME INFORMATION
PORTLAND: GUARDS: DAMIAN LILLARD might be the most complete offensive point guard in the NBA. He's a legitimately great shooter, and quick enough off the dribble to get wherever he wants inside the paint . . . WESLEY MATTHEWS runs, runs and runs off the ball as a spot-up shooter . . . STEVE BLAKE is most likely to absorb Mo Williams' old sixth-man role. He can take some ball-handling duties, but at this point his value is as a spot-up shooter . . . He had his rookie season erased by injuries, and it's a crowded rotation, but C.J. McCOLLUM might be able to shoot his way into significant minutes . . . WILL BARTON is a practice player unless he develops a three-point shot . . . ALLEN CRABBE will likely bounce between Portland and the D-League again. FORWARDS: LaMARCUS ALDRIDGE's combination of length and mid-range shooting makes him virtually unguardable when he's on . . . NICOLAS BATUM often runs the offense with Lillard working off the ball. Batum can shoot, too. There's no real weakness in his game . . . He tore a thumb ligament during Summer League play, but THOMAS ROBINSON is already back on the court. He's a hustle guy off the bench, but has a limited offensive game and can't defend bigger 4's . . . DORELL WRIGHT will likely bounce in and out of the rotation again due to his streaky shooting . . . JOEL FREELAND's skill set is limited, but he can play the 4 and the 5 . . . VICTOR CLAVER will try to work his way back into the rotation as a defensive specialist. CENTERS: ROBIN LOPEZ proved a perfect complement to Aldridge, and should handle the bulk of the minutes at center again . . . CHRIS KAMAN gives Portland s a more offensive-minded option off the bench . . . It will be another developmental season for MEYERS LEONARD
BOSTON: GUARDS: RAJON RONDO's name is etched on the trading block. Regardless of where he lands, his injured knee should be 100 percent healthy . . . With an improved three-point shot, AVERY BRADLEY has become a complete player. His defense guarantees minutes regardless . . . MARCUS SMART seems to be waiting in the wings for a Rondo trade. In the meantime, he'll back up both guard spots. Just like in college, he'll be brilliant at times, but inconsistent . . . Local product PHIL PRESSEY will stick around as a No. 3 point guard . . . EVAN TURNER was a disaster in Indy. He'll have a tough time making this rotation . . . MARCUS THORNTON was acquired as a trade throw-in. The Celtics don't have big plans for the remorseless gunner. FORWARDS: He's isn't a legitimate No. 1 option, but JEFF GREEN will be the go-to guy again. He hasn't been able to handle the extra defensive attention, becoming increasingly inefficient . . . He has plenty of limitations on both ends of the court, but JARED SULLINGER is a crafty scorer. He'll get close to starter minutes as the Celtics search for offense . . . BRANDON BASS will see time at the 4 and the 5. He's made a pledge to improve offensively, but more likely he'll be a defensive presence and a screen-setter . . . JAMES YOUNG missed most of the summer healing a neck injury. He's going to do some damage running the floor, but he doesn't have the skills for the half-court game in the NBA . . . GERALD WALLACE is playing out the string. CENTERS: KELLY OLYNYK has the most upside in this frontcourt. His rare mobility and skill set for a 7-footer made a difference last year. It's just a question of whether he can hold up defensively down low . . . TYLER ZELLER gives them another solid 7-footer who opposing defenses have to account for. He'll fit well in head coach Brad Stevens' system . . . JOEL ANTHONY isn't going to get off the bench.

*Trail Blazers-Celtics Preview* ===============================

By NOEY KUPCHAN STATS Writer

Portland (9-3) at Boston (4-7), 6:00 p.m. EDT

The Portland Trail Blazers have proven unbeatable over the last two weeks with Damian Lillard leading the charge.

The Boston Celtics haven't been able to get it together.

Portland opens a three-game road trip seeking a seventh consecutive win and fourth in a row over the Celtics on Sunday.

The Trail Blazers (9-3) have outscored opponents by an average of 12.0 points during their run after easily getting past short-handed Chicago 105-87 on Friday. Lillard had 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting to go with six rebounds and nine assists as Portland outscored the Bulls by 40 when Lillard was on the court.

The Trail Blazers held Chicago to 36.1 percent shooting, its lowest mark of the season.

"I liked our demeanor," coach Terry Stotts said. "I liked our disposition, the way we came out of the gates. Our defense was solid."

Lillard has been superb after a slow start. He's averaging 25.8 points on 56.4 percent shooting and 8.4 assists over the last five games, a stretch during which he's gone 20 of 31 from 3-point range.

"I feel really comfortable, just being myself," he said. "Now the ball is going in and we're defending better and getting out in transition. I'm playing my game and finding the spots on the floor where I can attack and make a play."

While the Blazers have allowed 91.1 points per game in opening 8-1 at home, they've surrendering an average of 107.3 in going 1-2 on the road. They had been outscored by an average of 14.4 points during a nine-game losing streak in Boston before winning 109-96 last Nov. 15. Portland also pulled out a 112-104 victory Jan. 11 to complete its first season sweep since 2003-04.

LaMarcus Aldridge averaged 24.0 points on 57.6 percent shooting and 12.5 rebounds against Boston last season, but Lillard was limited to a combined 32 points on 36.7 percent. Portland is 4-13 in its last 17 against Boston despite winning three consecutive meetings.

The Celtics (4-7) have dropped four of five overall, with their only victory coming 101-90 at winless Philadelphia on Wednesday. They saw their woes resume two nights later in a 117-100 loss at Memphis.

Kelly Olynyk had 18 points to lead six players in double figures for Boston, which was outscored 66-38 in the paint. Jared Sullinger finished with 13 points and six rebounds after averaging 18.3 and 9.5 over a four-game stretch.

"We were, at best, an inconsistently good team. You can't beat a team like this playing like that. You have to be on your A-game," coach Brad Stevens told the team's official website. "There are some guys out on the floor on (the Grizzlies) we can learn a lot from, especially our young bigs."

The Celtics, who were outscored 25-16 over the first 12 minutes, are giving up an average of 27.2 points in the first quarter to rank near the bottom of the league.

"We need to come out executing and being aggressive and hit first," guard Evan Turner said. "We have to do a better job of doing that consistently."

Rajon Rondo had four points and a season-low four assists against Memphis. He's averaging an NBA-best 11.0 assists but has shot just 8 of 24 from the foul line, by far the worst display among any guard with at least 10 attempts.

Boston has allowed an average of 116.3 points during a three-game home losing streak.
