KEY GAME INFORMATION
PHILADELPHIA: GUARDS: MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS wasn't the most legit Rookie of the Year, but he had his moments. He should be a little more efficient in his second season, and Philly certainly doesn't have a better alternative at the point. A shoulder injury will likely keep him sidelined for the first three weeks of the upcoming season . . . TONY WROTEN makes some highlight-reel plays and will likely start at the 2. He's too erratic to be in the rotation for a playoff team . . . As for the rest of the backcourt, ELLIOT WILLIAMS is looking to revive his career, and he's no worse than James Anderson and Hollis Thompson, who were starting for this team last season . . . Injuries have all but ended JASON RICHARDSON's career. He's on the final year of his deal, and might not play in 2014-15 after suffering a stress fracture to his right foot in late October . . . ALEXEY SHVED could play some quality minutes at both guard spots for this team. FORWARDS: The 2014 draft was deep, allowing Philly to land a first-round value in second-rounder K.J. McDANIELS. He's certainly better than anyone the Sixers trotted out at the 3-spot last season . . . HOLLIS THOMPSON could keep a starting job warm again . . . Another second-rounder, JERAMI GRANT, could play his way into the rotation. He's talented, but he's also something of a 'tweener, and like most Syracuse guys sitting in a 2-3 zone, Grant never learned how to e-on-one defense . . . ARNETT MOULTRIE has been something of a problem child in Philly, but he's good enough to make this rotation if he turns it around effort-wise . . . LUC RICHARD MBAH a MOUTE is here as a mentor for Joel Embiid. CENTERS: NERLENS NOEL is ready to make his debut. His collegiate rates suggest he'll rebound and block shots. The question marks are durability, functional strength and offensive game. He'll get to learn on the fly . . . JOEL EMBIID's foot problems will keep him out until at least midseason, and the Sixers will certainly play it safe with him. On raw talent, he's a future star. The questions are durability, and whether he can co-exist with Noel.
ATLANTA: GUARDS: Considering he was almost gone a year ago, the Hawks are thankful JEFF TEAGUE is still in town. He may never be a great shooter, but he gets wherever he wants on the floor . . . KYLE KORVER is still the NBA's premier shooter, and he's shown no signs of relinquishing that title . . . THABO SEFOLOSHA gives the Hawks a defensive option to complement Korver. He looked worn down last season though, eventually falling out of OKC's rotation . . . KENT BAZEMORE gives Atlanta some more offensive firepower off the bench . . . DENNIS SCHRODER showed flashes of that Rajon Rondo Lite promise last year. Don't be surprised to see him paired with Teague in some lineups . . . There's no guarantee JOHN JENKINS will ever be the same after back surgery. FORWARDS: PAUL MILLSAP has developed into a capable co-alpha, along with Jeff Teague. In addition to his low-post work, he's developed a three-point shot and the ability to work off the dribble . . . DeMARRE CARROLL is trying to add a three-point shot to his repertoire. It would give him a big boost in offensive value to go along with his defense and all-around hustle . . . ADREIAN PAYNE will provide some much-needed depth at the 4 and 5 spots. He's NBA-ready, especially with his ability to pull opposing big men away from the basket with his shooting . . . MIKE MUSCALA gives them another big man who can shoot it, but he's not athletic enough to hold his own in the NBA. CENTERS: Will AL HORFORD ever stay healthy? He's an All-Star when he is. His recent injuries have been a bit fluky, but it's going to be tough to trust him . . . PERO ANTIC proved to be a capable stretch-5 last year, but the arrival of Payne will likely push him out of the rotation.

*76ers-Hawks Preview* =====================

By JORDAN GARRETSON STATS Writer

Philadelphia (9-37) at Atlanta (38-8), 7:30 p.m. EDT

The Atlanta Hawks showcased their depth in another impressive victory.

They'll try to match the fifth-longest single-season winning streak in NBA history at 19 games Saturday night against the visiting Philadelphia 76ers, who are seeking a more modest third straight victory for the first time.

Atlanta (39-8) owns the league's best record after Friday's 105-99 home win over Portland, outscoring the Trail Blazers 36-25 in the fourth quarter. The Hawks rank third in the NBA in both offensive and defensive efficiency (110.3 and 97.5 points per 100 possessions, respectively) since losing to Milwaukee on Dec. 26.

Starter DeMarre Carroll and Thabo Sefolosha's statuses are unclear after Carroll sat out with a strained left Achilles, while Sefolosha - starting in his place - exited after two minutes with a strained right calf. Shelvin Mack also missed a sixth straight game due to a strained calf.

Kent Bazemore had 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting in a career-high 40 minutes after not playing more than 28 all season.

Six different Hawks have had or tied for the team high for scoring and 11 have posted double figures at least once during the winning streak. Paul Millsap's 21 points led the way Friday, the fifth time in six games he's scored 20 or more.

"We're confident in one through 15 here," said Al Horford, who had 17 points. "Guys really put in the time, guys work every day. They just don't get the opportunity because we're so deep."

Atlanta has shot 40.8 percent from 3-point range during its streak while making 10.7 per game. Eight different players have at least 10 3-pointers in that span, led by Kyle Korver who is 58 for 106 (54.7 percent). Mike Scott was 3 for 3 Friday to help the Hawks go 11 for 23.

Jeff Teague, however, continues to struggle - he's shooting 38.5 percent over his last seven contests after previously shooting 48.5 percent. He is 8 of 26 in his last three games versus Philadelphia.

The Hawks, who are 22-3 at home, can match three other teams, including San Antonio in 2013-14, for the league's fifth-longest single-season winning streak ever.

Philadelphia (10-37) has its third two-game winning streak. It failed to win a third straight both times, however, losing those contests by a combined 39 points, including a 105-87 home loss to Atlanta on Jan. 13, its sixth straight loss in the series.

Michael Carter-Williams had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in Friday's 103-94 home win over Minnesota, his third triple-double of the season and the fifth of his career, tying Lance Stephenson for the most in the NBA since the start of 2013-14.

The 76ers, who rank near the bottom of the league with 20.1 assists per game, recorded 27 in each of the last two games. Friday's win broke a 23-game drought without a 100-point game.

"I just feel like (Carter-Williams) is playing so much more at peace within himself, and I think the group is doing the same," coach Brett Brown said. "And, collectively, it produces some decent performances."

Carter-Williams has shot 53.5 percent shooting in four meetings with the Hawks.

While Philadelphia limited its last two opponents to 7-of-34 3-point shooting, the Hawks were 18 of 53 in the first two meetings, also winning 95-79 at home on Dec. 10. Korver was 9 of 14 from beyond the arc in those contests and Atlanta was plus-25 in rebounds.
