The Cleveland Indians will try to continue their dominance over the Blue Jays on Tuesday night when the teams meet for the second of a three-game series in Toronto.

The Indians won the opener 7-3 on Monday night and have captured all five meetings between the teams this season, sweeping a four-game series in Cleveland back in early April.

Overall, Cleveland has won eight of the past eight games.

Right-hander Trevor Bauer (9-7, 3.67 ERA) will start for the Indians on Tuesday against Toronto right-hander Aaron Sanchez (3-14. 6.26).

Sanchez has not won since April 27, going 0-13 with a 7.99 ERA in the 15 starts since.

He has pitched exactly five innings in each of his past three starts, against the Baltimore Orioles at home and on the road against the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.

Sanchez allowed four runs in each of his past two outings.

"He has been pitching better," Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo told reporters after the 5-4 loss in Boston on Wednesday. "I know four runs doesn't sound that great, but he kept us in the game. In a place like (Fenway Park), I thought he did a good job."

Sanchez had been encouraged by his July 12 start against the Yankees.

"It's the first time I've seen my ball moving with that type of velocity," he said after the start. "I felt like the old me, so I'm pleased. ...

"We did some things in my delivery that wasn't really me, that I look back on and I wish I would have found a little earlier. But I haven't pitched really healthy in two years (because of finger problems), so it's one of those things if my body feels good, I'm going to go out there and compete. I know all that other stuff will come, and that's what's happening."

Sanchez allowed two runs over six innings in a loss at Cleveland on April 4, the Jays' first road game of the season. He is 1-1 with a 4.32 ERA in four career games (three starts) against the Indians.

Bauer will be making his team-leading 23rd start of the season. He allowed three runs and five hits while striking out 10 in 6 2/3 innings Thursday in a win over the Detroit Tigers.

He will be making his eighth career appearance (seventh start) against the Blue Jays. Bauer is 3-2 with a 4.91 ERA against them. He is 1-2 with a 6.57 ERA at the Rogers Centre. He got the win against Sanchez on April 4 with seven hitless innings, walking six and striking out eight.

Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez continued his resurgence at the plate in the series opener, going 2-for-4 with a double, a sacrifice fly and a stolen base.

Over his past 23 games, Ramirez has five home runs, one triple, nine doubles, 19 RBIs and a .337 batting average (30-for-89). He has hits in 25 of his last 30 games.

"My confidence is always there regardless of the results," Ramirez told the media recently. "I just like to keep working, and I think that's what I focus on, my confidence and on the work that I put in and the results will show."

The Indians are 13-3 in July while the Blue Jays are 7-11 for the month.

Toronto is 18-31 at home and Cleveland is 26-20 on the road.
