PREVIEW
Giants look for second straight sweep vs. Brewers

The San Francisco Giants bid to cap an impressive eight-game homestand in style against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday when they vie for their second straight series sweep.

The Giants banged out 15 hits in Saturday's 8-7 victory over Milwaukee, pushing their winning streak to a season-high four games and improving to 5-2 on the homestand.

Stephen Vogt burned his former team with a career-best two triples and even legged out an RBI infield single in the eighth inning on Saturday.

"Obviously, you want to get that extra run anyway you can," Vogt said. "I like to joke that the fastest human being on the planet is a baseball player who smells a hit. We're running pound-for-pound as fast as a human being can possibly run when we smell a hit."

San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy praised Vogt's energy on what proved to be a pivotal run -- after Christian Yelich trimmed Milwaukee's deficit to one with his majors-best 26th homer in the ninth inning.

"It ended up being a huge run," Bochy said of Vogt's hit. "In the eighth inning, for a catcher to get down there like that, that's impressive."

Despite Vogt's heroics, Buster Posey will likely return to the lineup for the series finale.

Posey is riding a four-game hitting streak and has scored six runs in his last six contests heading into Sunday's tilt versus Milwaukee right-hander Chase Anderson (3-1, 3.80 ERA), against whom he is 6-for-15 with four RBIs in his career.

Joe Panik (3-for-13), Brandon Belt (2-for-14, four strikeouts) and Brandon Crawford (2-for-13) haven't been as fortunate against Anderson, who settled for a no-decision last Sunday despite allowing two runs on four hits in a season-high six innings against Pittsburgh.

The 31-year-old Anderson sports a 3-2 record with a 4.71 ERA in seven career starts against San Francisco, although he is 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA in three starts at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

Although Milwaukee has cooled off with a 1-3 start to its eight-game road trip, Yelich extended his hitting streak to 12 games with his third homer in five contests.

Yelich is 23-for-48 with five homers and 11 RBIs during that stretch, heading into an encounter with Giants right-hander Jeff Samardzija (3-5, 3.72), against whom he is 6-for-16 in his career.

Mike Moustakas is 14-for-37 with five homers, eight RBIs and nine runs during his nine-game hitting streak. The 30-year-old is 4-for-12 with two homers and four RBIs against Samardzija.

Samardzija fell to 1-4 in his last five starts on June 8 after permitting three runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings of a 7-2 setback against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He owns a 3-6 mark with a 4.28 ERA in 26 career appearances (12 starts) versus Milwaukee. The 34-year-old has been taken to task by Ryan Braun (11-for-26, three homers, nine RBIs), while Yasmani Grandal (4-for-8) and Lorenzo Cain (4-for-10) have also fared well in smaller sample sizes.

Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell applauded his team's determined effort despite falling short on Saturday.

"We did a nice job, but ultimately they found grass on just a lot of balls, and we didn't find grass on their last ball," he said.
