KEY GAME INFORMATION
LA DODGERS: LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Dodgers have a new front office. Shortstop Hanley Ramirez, outfielder Matt Kemp, second-baseman Dee Gordon and pitcher Dan Haren are gone from a roster that won the NL West title last season.
Change was everywhere at the Dodgers' spring camp and all of it was designed to enhance their chances of achieving a goal that has never changed: Winning the World Series.
It eluded them last October in the NL Division series against the St. Louis Cardinals. It eluded them after the club was sold for $2.15 billion three years ago. It's eluded them since 1988.
''Everything we're doing is in the vein of trying to put ourselves in the best position to make it into October and then play as long as we can,'' said Andrew Friedman, the team's new president of baseball operations, who along with new general manager Farhan Zaidi employed an analytic approach to a winter makeover of a roster that had won back-to-back NL West titles.
Make no mistake, though, the changes were built around those who are back. At the top of the pitching order is Clayton Kershaw, the 2014 NL MVP and three-time Cy Young Award winner. Kershaw is armed with motivation to make amends for last fall's struggles. In right field, there's the young Yasiel Puig, an All-Star who was benched for some of the postseason.
A key to the makeover is in the heart of the infield, where Friedman and Zaidi acquired shortstop Jimmy Rollins from Philadelphia and second baseman Howie Kendrick from the Angels.
''Instant credibility,'' Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said of the two veterans who some think will plug holes in what was an inconsistent defense. ''I think they bring a ton to the table for us. They create stability up the middle.''
There are questions whether the Dodgers sacrificed some offense in losing Ramirez' big bat and Gordon's speed. Ramirez signed with Boston. Gordon, a 2014 All Star, was traded to Miami. Meanwhile, Kemp's proven power is also gone. He was traded to San Diego for catcher Yasmani Grandal.
The Dodgers were willing to move Kemp because of what they've seen in 22-year-old Joc Pederson, who through 17 spring games was batting .417. Pederson appears to have the edge over veteran Andre Ethier as the starter in center field. With Carl Crawford in left and Puig in right, there's no room for Ethier, who said early in camp that he wants to be an everyday player.
Then there's the pitching staff. Kershaw and Zack Greinke are locks for the top of the rotation. After them, there are questions. No. 3 starter Hyun-Jin Ryu is likely to start the season on the disabled list because of an ailing left shoulder. Friedman signed projected starters Brandon McCarthy (four years at $48 million) and Brett Anderson (one year at $10 million), but each has a long history of injury.
With the uncertainty surrounding Ryu, it's not clear who will be the fifth starter. Joe Wieland, also acquired from San Diego in the deal for Kemp, was considered a leading possibility.
In the bullpen, the biggest question is about closer Kenley Jansen, who underwent surgery on Feb. 17 to have a growth removed from the fifth metatarsal on his left foot. He was expected to be out for 8-to-12 weeks. Until he's back, Mattingly said he might use a committee of pitchers to fill the role.
QUIET PUIG: Except for an occasional flip of the bat, it was a quiet camp for Puig, who is beginning his third season. Through 12 games, he was batting a modest .226 with 3 homers. ''I don't think his spring was that great last year either,'' Mattingly said. ''I'm not really concerned about his average or anything. I think he looks fine. He's hit some balls decent. He's a lot like other guys who know they're going to be around. They take their bats different than guys who are trying to show us what they can do.''
IMPATIENT KERSHAW: Kershaw never has much patience for questions about the World Series in the spring. ''Every team thinks they're going to win the World Series at this time of year,'' he said. ''That's everybody's goal and it should be. If you don't win the World Series, it's a failure.''
POWER ADJUSTMENT: First baseman Adrian Gonzalez has his own take on the Dodgers' altered offense. ''People are saying say that we lost power, but I think we just put the power in different spots of the lineup,'' he said.
PHILADELPHIA: CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - No team is picked to win fewer games this season than the Philadelphia Phillies.
Rebuilding isn't easy.
After dominating the NL East from 2007-11, capturing five division titles, two pennants and one World Series championship, the Phillies have spiraled downward - all the way to the bottom.
Oddsmakers set Philadelphia's win total for 2015 at 67 or 68. Things could get even uglier if ace Cole Hamels is traded - a very realistic possibility - along with other veterans still hanging around. Ryan Howard and Jonathan Papelbon are available. Chase Utley and Carlos Ruiz also could be moved. Jimmy Rollins was the first member of the nucleus to go when he was traded to the Dodgers in December.
The goal this season is figuring out which players will be part of the future. Cody Asche, Maikel Franco, Freddy Galvis, Cesar Hernandez, Darin Ruf and Odubel Herrera are among those will get opportunities. Asche and Galvis form the left side of the infield. Franco will begin the season at Triple-A. Hernandez and Herrera will start off as role players. Ruf still is hoping to get a chance to play regularly.
''I'm very pleased with the demeanor of the players in the clubhouse,'' general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. said. ''Young players are stepping up and gaining confidence. It's all about experience and that's what these young guys are going to get and hopefully they take the ball and run with it.''
Howard, Utley and Rollins each were homegrown players who developed into the best players at their position in franchise history. Those are big shoes for guys like Asche, Galvis and others to fill.
But they're up for the challenge.
''The faces might be different, the names might be different and they might not be big names, but the mentality is the same,'' Asche said. ''We're still out there trying to earn it every day and we're going to have our bad days and good days, but I guarantee there's no one in that clubhouse not trying to earn something.''
Here are some things to know about the Phillies entering the season:
---
REPLACING J-ROLL
Jimmy Rollins was a three-time All-Star shortstop and the 2007 NL MVP. Beyond the stats, he was a team leader who brought swagger to the clubhouse. Freddy Galvis takes his spot while top prospect J.P. Crawford is groomed in the minors. Galvis is an excellent defensive player whether he's playing second base, shortstop, third base or even the outfield. The switch-hitter has a .218 career average with 13 homers and 55 RBIs in 514 at-bats. Galvis has gap power - 42 extra-base hits - but needs to improve his average and stay on top of the ball at the plate.
---
FINISHING OFF
If starting pitchers get through six innings with a lead, the Phillies may win more games than people think. Their bullpen is a major strength. Jonathan Papelbon converted 39 of 43 save chances last year. Setup man Ken Giles brings a 100 mph heater to the eighth inning. Lefty Jake Diekman has a power arm in the seventh or eighth and righty Justin De Fratus is solid.
---
STARTING FIVE
Before Cliff Lee's elbow injury, the rotation was quite formidable with Cole Hamels, Lee and Aaron Harang. Now, Harang moves up to No. 2 and journeyman Jerome Williams takes the third spot ahead of David Buchanan. Several guys are competing for the No. 5 spot while Chad Billingsley works his way back from two elbow operations.
---
POWER OUTTAGE
Marlon Byrd led the Phillies with 25 homers last year before he was traded to Cincinnati in the offseason. Howard hit 23, but the former NL MVP looked good in spring training. If he sticks around, he should supply more power. But Chase Utley only hit 11 homers last year and Domonic Brown dropped from 27 to 10. This won't be the 2009 Phillies who had four guys hit 30 homers and five hit 20. But there's a chance they'll get a few more in the 15-20 range.
---
CALLING THE SHOTS
Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg is finding out it was easier for him to play the game than to win games as the manager. Sandberg is 93-111 since replacing Charlie Manuel in August 2013.

*Dodgers-Phillies Preview* ==========================

By KEVIN MASSOTH STATS Writer

Los Angeles (60-45) at Philadelphia (41-65), 7:05 p.m. EDT

Tuesday night will bring a new vantage point for Jimmy Rollins at Citizens Bank Park, though in a sense things will feel the same.

Rollins will sit in the opposite dugout in Philadelphia for the first time after spending the first 15 years of his career with the Phillies when his Los Angeles Dodgers come to town for a three-game series.

Rollins won five straight NL East titles from 2007-2011 in Philadelphia and a World Series in 2008 before being traded to Los Angeles in December. He's the Phillies' all-time leader in hits (2,306) and doubles (479) while ranking second behind Mike Schmidt in games (2,090) - including a record 803 at Citizens Bank Park.

Philadelphia (41-65) visited Los Angeles (60-45) in early July, with the Dodgers taking three of four. Rollins went 5 for 15 with a homer, two doubles and five RBIs.

Rollins spoke of his time in Philadelphia prior to that series.

"I didn't leave anything behind," said Rollins, who holds a .216 batting average - 27 points below his previous career low. "It helps probably having the first chance to face these guys here in Los Angeles as opposed to going back to Philadelphia. I had to leave all that in the past and be able to move forward and accept who I am as being a Dodger. This is where I am today."

Fast forward to August and the Dodgers have won four straight and are in first place in the NL West after completing a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend. They will try to cool down a last-place Phillies team that has won 12 of 15 since the All-Star break.

The Dodgers will start another familiar player to Phillies fans in Alex Wood (7-6, 3.54 ERA). The left-hander, making his team debut after being acquired from Atlanta as part of a 13-player deal that also included Miami on July 30, has 12 career appearances against Philadelphia - including seven starts.

Three of those starts came this season, producing mixed results in a 1-1 record and 3.94 ERA. Wood pitched 5 2-3 scoreless innings April 24 before allowing seven runs and 19 hits in 10 1-3 innings in the last two.

Wood is 3-2 with a 3.10 ERA as a starter against the Phillies, with the Braves losing 1-0 in each of his last two at Philadelphia. He allowed one run in 13 2-3 innings in those outings.

Carlos Ruiz is 6 for 9 when facing Wood, who has also had trouble with Freddy Galvis (6 for 10), Darin Ruf (5 for 12) and Jeff Francoeur (4 for 10).

Wood's counterpart will be Jerome Williams (3-8, 6.36), who hasn't won since May 16 while also missing a month with a strained left hamstring. The right-hander is 0-5 with a 7.88 ERA during that stretch, allowing 10 home runs and an opponents' batting average of .355 over eight starts.

The Phillies scored 25 runs in their first three wins of a weekend series with the Braves before losing 6-2 on Sunday.

"On a good note, we took three of four," interim manager Pete Mackanin said.
