Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran are new to the Bronx; David Robertson is new to the closer's role. And Alex Rodriguez is nowhere to be seen.
Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte have retired, and Robinson Cano has moved to Seattle.
After missing the playoffs for only the second time in 19 years, the New York Yankees will look a whole lot different. And for the first time since 1998, they don't have baseball's highest payroll.
''I think it is probably the biggest transition I've been through,'' manager Joe Girardi says.
For only the second time in team history and the first time since 1947, every position on opening day other than the mound will be manned by a different Yankees player on opening day than in New York's previous opener.
New York's forgettable 2013 season began with an 8-2 loss to Boston, with Kevin Youkilis at first, Cano at second, Eduardo Nunez at shortstop, Jayson Nix at third, Francisco Cervelli behind the plate, Vernon Wells in left, Brett Gardner in center and Ichiro Suzuki in right.
The only holdover for Tuesday's opener at Houston figures to be Gardner, who has shifted to left. The rest of the starting lineup figures to have McCann behind the plate, Mark Teixeira at first, Brian Roberts at second, Jeter at shortstop, Kelly Johnson at third, Ellsbury in center and Beltran in right.
CC Sabathia will be the constant on the mound. He's coming off the poorest of his 13 major league seasons at 14-13 with a 4.78 ERA.
''Nobody wants to go through that again,'' he says. ''It sticks with me a lot. Just being disappointed in not being able to help this team win. I feel like if I could have been a little better we might have made the playoffs. I blamed myself for a long time in the offseason and now I'm over it and ready to go this year.
| | MINNESOTA: MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The number is staggering. In the past three years, the Minnesota Twins have lost 291 games. Ninety-nine in 2011. Ninety-six each of the last two seasons.
A team that was once viewed as a model for succeeding and competing with modest financial resources has been an afterthought for too long now. They have finished last in the AL Central twice and were fourth last season.
So the Twins shed their frugal ways in the offseason, shelling out $73 million to bring in Ricky Nolasco and Phil Hughes to bolster a lagging rotation. They also brought back manager Ron Gardenhire on a two-year deal and moved Joe Mauer from catcher to first base in an effort to protect their franchise player from injury.
''They made a statement: `We don't want to see this again. We don't want to go through this again this summer,''' Gardenhire said.
The Twins said goodbye to longtime first baseman Justin Morneau late last season when general manager Terry Ryan traded him to the Pirates in a stretch-run deal. There weren't many other changes to an offense that has struggled to score runs, but the upgrades to the rotation have given the holdovers some peace of mind that they won't have to score seven runs a game to have a chance to win.
''It's night and day to be honest with you. Terry went out and spent some money on some good arms in Nolasco and Hughes,'' second baseman Brian Dozier said. ''Hughes had a bad year last year but is an All-Star pitcher and I think moving to this park will help him a lot. I think just getting out of New York to be honest with you. ... So we needed to address our pitching staff and Terry did that, and I'm happy about it.''

The Minnesota Twins have never won consecutive home games over the New York Yankees since Target Field opened four years ago.
They'll try to change that while spoiling Derek Jeter's final matchup against them Sunday.
Minnesota (39-47) is 4-15 against New York at Target Field, including a pair of losses in the 2010 division series. The Twins, though, now have a chance at their first home win streak versus the Yankees since a three-gamer in 2008.
They pulled out a 2-1 victory in 11 innings Saturday when New York catcher Francisco Cervelli made a throwing error to first when trying to complete a double play. Josh Willingham scored the winning run after hitting a tying homer in the seventh to help Minnesota snap a seven-game home losing streak to the Yankees.
The Twins had also dropped nine of 11 overall and three in a row at Target Field prior to Saturday's contest.
"We'll take a win any way we can," manager Ron Gardenhire said.
After being denied a third straight win, the Yankees (43-43) will try to get back in the win column in Jeter's farewell to Minnesota. The shortstop is a career .323 hitter against the Twins - including the postseason - but is batting .254 in 14 games at Target Field.
Jeter is three hits shy of becoming the eighth player with 3,400 in his career and will try to reach that milestone while giving Hiroki Kuroda (5-6, 4.08 ERA) some support.
Kuroda gave up two runs over eight innings Tuesday in a 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay. The right-hander has a 3.26 ERA in six starts since the beginning of June, but a 1-3 record while receiving a total of 11 runs of support.
Ricky Nolasco (5-6, 5.49) shouldered more of the blame for a four-start winless stretch that ended with a 10-2 victory against Kansas City on Tuesday. The right-hander had a 6.04 ERA in his four previous games before yielding one run over six innings in a 10-2 win over the Royals.
"Just trying not to do too much. It's a step in the right direction," he said.
Nolasco allowed one run in six innings in his only start against New York on May 30, a 6-1 road victory. Kuroda is 1-1 with a 5.79 ERA in two starts versus Minnesota but earned a 2-0 win last July 12, pitching five innings.
The Yankees might put Brett Gardner back in the lineup after giving him a day off Saturday, but Brian McCann could sit out again due to foot soreness.
"The X-rays came back good, negative, so that's encouraging," manager Joe Girardi said of McCann. "Obviously he may not play again (Sunday). We'll wait to see how he feels.
"It's not what you want, but the long-term aspect I don't think it's a big deal. But short term, he may be out a few days."
