KEY GAME INFORMATION
CHICAGO: LAST SEASON: 46-21-15, 107 points. Finished third in Central Division, lost to Los Angeles Kings in Western Conference final.
COACH: Joel Quenneville, 7th season with the Blackhawks, 268-127-59; 18th in the NHL, 706-410-77-100.
ADDED: C Brad Richards, G Michael Leighton.
LOST: LW Brandon Bollig, D Sheldon Brookbank.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Brandon Saad. The talented winger was terrific in the final part of the playoff series against the Kings, collecting three goals and four assists in the last four games. Playing on a line with Patrick Kane and newcomer Brad Richards, he could do even better than his career highs of 19 goals and 28 assists from last season.
OUTLOOK: It's Stanley Cup or bust for the loaded Blackhawks, who have no glaring weaknesses. They should be among the league's highest-scoring teams again this season, and Norris Trophy winner Duncan Keith leads a solid group of defensemen. The Central could be hockey's toughest division, but the Blackhawks are a legitimate threat for their third NHL title in the last six seasons.
LOS ANGELES: LAST SEASON: 46-28-8, 100 points. Finished third in Pacific Division. Won the Stanley Cup.
COACH: Darryl Sutter, 4th season with Kings, 98-57-24; 15th overall in NHL.
ADDED: RW Adam Cracknell.
LOST: D Willie Mitchell, C Colin Fraser.
PLAYER TO WATCH: D Brayden McNabb. Mitchell's departure was the only significant change to the Kings' championship roster, and they hope the bruising McNabb can make the full-time NHL leap into his spot.
OUTLOOK: This tenacious, balanced team has won two of the last three Stanley Cup titles, playing a record 64 postseason games in that stretch. There's no reason to think the Kings can't contend for three crowns in four years, an NHL feat that hasn't been accomplished since Edmonton did it in 1990.

*Blackhawks-Kings Preview* ==========================

By TAYLOR BECHTOLD STATS Writer

Chicago (13-8-1) at Los Angeles (12-6-5), 10:00 p.m. EDT

Back home after salvaging a win on their road swing, the Los Angeles Kings brace for a tough test against a Chicago Blackhawks team that has found a groove on its annual circus trip.

In their first meeting since the Western Conference finals, the Kings go after a fourth straight home victory while the Blackhawks try to wrap up their 10-day trek with a 5-1 record Saturday night.

Los Angeles (12-6-5) allowed eight goals in consecutive defeats at Dallas and Nashville to open a brief trip before Martin Jones earned his first shutout since April 10 in Wednesday's 4-0 win at Minnesota.

"We kind of wanted to punctuate (the game) and show what we're all about, and we did a little bit," said Justin Williams, who had the team's fourth first-period goal. "We got some turnovers and capitalized early, and were able to shut the game down."

Jonathan Quick, who hasn't played since struggling against the Stars last Saturday, is expected to return in net against the Blackhawks. He's given up five goals in each of his last two road games, but he's 9-0-1 with a 1.18 GAA in his past 10 at home.

The defending Stanley Cup champions have been outstanding at Staples Center, outscoring opponents 36-15 while going 10-1-1 in their last 12 games there. They've also allowed a league-low 1.46 goals per game at home.

Chicago figures to challenge that mark, as it ranks among the league leaders with 3.08 goals per game on the road following Friday's 4-1 win at Anaheim. The Blackhawks (14-8-1) have totaled 25 goals while winning five of six overall.

"We've got one more game left (on the trip) and we'll be able to go home for a few days and relax," Patrick Kane, who had two goals, told the team's official website. "Might as well finish on a strong note."

Kane has heated up with six goals and seven assists in his past seven games. He had two goals and eight assists over the last four games of last season's memorable conference finals versus Los Angeles.

Jonathan Toews has six goals and nine assists in his last 10 regular-season games against the Kings. He's scored six of his 10 goals away from home, including three on this six-game trip.

Chicago had at least one power-play goal in six straight games before going 0 for 5 Friday. The unit still ranks among the NHL's best with 19 goals, though the Kings have an impressive 89.7 penalty-kill percentage at home.

Jeff Carter had five goals and Tyler Toffoli added four to help Los Angeles beat Chicago in the conference finals. Toffoli snapped a four-game goal drought Wednesday, while Carter will try to do the same in this contest.

Williams hopes to extend a six-game point streak in which he's scored three times with four assists.

The Kings went 1 for 10 on the power their trip, but they've gone 6 for 12 during their home winning streak. That efficiency could be difficult to maintain against the Blackhawks, who lead the NHL with a 91.9 penalty-kill percentage.

Corey Crawford made 23 saves Friday and has played in both games of the team's last two back-to-back situations. He ranks among the NHL leaders with a 1.92 GAA, but had a 3.53 mark against the Kings last postseason.

Chicago has won six of seven regular-season meetings in Los Angeles.
