KEY GAME INFORMATION
ANAHEIM: ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - That brand-new Pacific Division title banner in the Honda Center rafters is going to mock the Anaheim Ducks until they figure out how to back up their regular-season prowess with playoff success.
With Teemu Selanne back for one last run at the Stanley Cup, the Ducks are eager to extend the Finnish Flash's final season well into the summer.
Anaheim went back to training camp this month still smarting from its seven-game loss to Detroit in the first round of last season's playoffs. The Ducks have still only won one playoff round since claiming their only NHL title in 2007 - none since 2009.
The best regular-season winning percentage in franchise history led to another early summer, and coach Bruce Boudreau is confident the Ducks are done with first-round flops.
ST LOUIS: ST. LOUIS (AP) - Signing cornerstone defenseman Alex Pietrangelo to a seven-year contract extension was just a matter of time for the St. Louis Blues. Two days into training camp, it was a done deal.
The Blues believe the ice-hogging, offensive-minded Pietrangelo is the guy who'll lead the way on teams built to go deep into the playoffs.
The Blues won two then dropped four in a row against the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the playoffs last season. The Blues open the regular season at home Oct. 3 against Nashville.

*Ducks-Blues Preview* =====================

By NICOLINO DIBENEDETTO STATS Writer

Anaheim (19-7-5) at St. Louis (19-5-3), 8:00 p.m. EDT

The St. Louis Blues are the NHL's most successful home team over the past three seasons.

Their impressive success on the power play may keep them rolling at Scottrade Center.

The Blues go for a sixth straight win on home ice Saturday night, when they attempt to beat the Anaheim Ducks for the seventh time in eight tries there.

St. Louis (19-5-3) has amassed a league-best 122 points while going 57-15-8 at home since 2011-12, and the team's success there has continued this season. The Blues are 12-1-2 as host, and their 26 points tie them with Boston and Minnesota for the most in the NHL.

They've outscored opponents 25-7 while winning five in a row at home after a three-goal second period spurred Thursday's 5-1 victory over the New York Islanders. That came after St. Louis concluded a 1-2-0 trip by giving up nine total goals in back-to-back losses to San Jose and Los Angeles.

"The thing I'm happiest about is for 30 minutes, we finally saw our game back again," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We saw our pursuit game, we got the puck stopped in the offensive zone, created turnovers, we created second and third turnovers, which is our game.

"I thought for 30 minutes, we started to see what we're capable of again. It was nice to see."

Hitchcock is certainly happy with what he's seeing from the power play, which ranks second in the league with a 25.5-percent success rate. The unit went 3 for 6 against the Islanders and is 8 for 21 over the last five home games.

"We were very effective on the power play," Hitchcock said Thursday. "We moved the puck, found shooting lanes. I thought all three goals, there was no chance for the goalie on any of the goals."

David Backes had one of those power-play goals, and his six on the man-advantage rank among the league leaders. The center has scored eight of his 13 goals at home, including four during the five-game winning streak.

Alexander Steen's 20 goals are one behind Washington's Alex Ovechkin for the most in the NHL, but he hasn't found the net in three straight games. He had five goals in four home games before being limited to an assist on Backes' tally Thursday.

Steen has six points over the past four home meetings with the Ducks (19-7-5), while Backes has six goals and four assists in seven matchups there.

The Blues are 6-0-1 against Anaheim over that stretch, winning the most recent meeting 2-1 in overtime on March 16.

The Ducks may be looking to make things easier on themselves after beating Chicago 3-2 in a shootout Friday, following two consecutive defeats via the tiebreaker - including 3-2 in nine rounds against Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Anaheim improved to 2-4 in shootouts.

"It's been a while," said Jonas Hiller, who had 23 saves in regulation and overtime before turning aside two of three shootout attempts Friday.

Ryan Getzlaf has nine goals and nine assists during a 12-game point streak after getting one of each against the Blackhawks. The center leads Anaheim with 34 points, but he hasn't managed to get any in two visits to St. Louis.

Corey Perry, the team leader with 17 goals, has found the net just once in 14 career games there. However, he enters this visit with one goal in each of the past four contests, and five in six.
