KEY GAME INFORMATION
GOLDEN STATE: GUARDS: New head coach Steve Kerr doesn't figure to tweak this system much, so expect STEPHEN CURRY to keep doing his thing. He's added elite playmaking skills to his already outstanding deep shooting . . . The Warriors are reluctant to part with KLAY THOMPSON in part because of his three-point shooting, but mostly because of his defensive value alongside Curry . . . SHAUN LIVINGSTON will back up both guard spots. He's also the only proven point guard on the roster besides Curry . . . BRANDON RUSH will look to revive his career in Oakland. He'll have to prove his knees are healthy enough before he earns a rotation spot . . . It's a make or break year already for NEMANJA NEDOVIC, who was severely overmatched as a rookie. FORWARDS: ANDRE IGUODALA is a defensive specialist and no more than a role player on offense. His main job is to take some of the playmaking duties away from Curry . . . Kerr seems resigned to the fact that he's stuck with DAVID LEE. He has some value on offense, but remains one of the league's worst defensive frontcourt players. Expect him to lose some minutes under Kerr . . . HARRISON BARNES will play a bit of power forward in some small lineups, but mostly he'll play a wing spot. Barnes will have to regain his confidence early if he's going to be an impact sixth man . . . Kerr has hinted at a bigger role for DRAYMOND GREEN, who will play some stretch-4 this year . . . MARREESE SPEIGHTS gives them an offense-only big man off the bench. CENTERS: Kerr has hinted at a bigger offensive role for ANDREW BOGUT. But monitoring the Aussie's minutes may be the bigger goal, to ensure he's actually available for the postseason . . . Back-up center FESTUS EZELI should be ready to return from his knee injury, though he was having shin problems during Summer League.
NEW ORLEANS: GUARDS: He's set to return from shin surgery, and the Pelicans need JRUE HOLIDAY to rescue this backcourt. He'll play as many minutes as he can handle . . . ERIC GORDON seems to be playing at half-speed. While his defense is atrocious, he's still an efficient scorer . . . Sixth man TYREKE EVANS will play solid minutes. He has the aggressiveness of an alpha, but he never developed a complete offensive game . . . The Pels seem just about done with AUSTIN RIVERS. He's still overmatched . . . RUSS SMITH could have a future as a scoring sixth man. He'll need injuries in front of him to crack this rotation . . . JIMMER FREDETTE can shoot, but can't stay on the court as arguably the league's biggest defensive liability. FORWARDS: The lone bright spot on this team, ANTHONY DAVIS is a bona fide star. He has improved defensively in space and as a rim protector, and his offensive game is coming along nicely . . . RYAN ANDERSON returns after missing most of last season with a back injury, which could potentially linger. If healthy, he'll play big minutes as a much-needed floor spacer . . . JOHN SALMONS will look to earn a rotation spot after being scooped up off waivers . . . After a few decent moments late last season, LUKE BABBITT will try to reinvent himself as a stretch-4. Unfortunately, he still can't guard anyone . . . DARIUS MILLER is still hanging around as a practice player. CENTERS: OMER ASIK provides a bodyguard for Anthony Davis. He'll also help clean up the many mistakes of this horrendous perimeter defense . . . ALEXIS AJINCA did enough late last season to warrant a look as the Pelicans No. 2 center . . . JEFF WITHEY can protect the rim, and might be able to carve out a role in his second season in head coach Monty Williams' system.

*Warriors-Pelicans Preview* ===========================

By JUSTIN EINHORN STATS Senior Editor

Golden State At New Orleans, Game Four, 8:00 p.m. EDT

Even if the Golden State Warriors complete a sweep Saturday night, the celebration might be more mellow than the one they enjoyed after Game 3.

Golden State's astonishing comeback victory that night seemed to take the life out of the New Orleans Pelicans, who must quickly regroup against the Western Conference's top seed just to send this series back to the Bay Area.

"We've got to try to get our minds right for Saturday," a dejected Anthony Davis said after New Orleans blew a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter and lost 123-119 in overtime Thursday.

It was over Davis' outstretched arm that Stephen Curry hit a 3-pointer from the corner with 2.8 seconds left in regulation to tie it. Curry then opened overtime with another 3 that gave Golden State its first lead since the first quarter and put them ahead to stay.

Curry added four free throws in the final 14 seconds to clinch it and cap a 40-point night, after which his team couldn't help but rejoice a bit more than normal for a first-round playoff win.

Outside the locker room, Klay Thompson serenaded Curry with chants of "M-V-P!" after the Warriors won for the first time in 359 games during the shot-clock era when trailing by at least 20 to begin a fourth quarter.

"Excited, electric, everybody was pumped up, hugging each other," Curry said when asked about the locker room atmosphere after the Warriors took a 3-0 series lead. "Music was played a lot quicker than it normally is.

"You know how big of a deal it is to come back from a deficit like that in the playoffs on the road, in a game we knew was very important for us to really take control of this series. So I think we should celebrate the accomplishment. We don't get big heads, we just enjoy what's going on."

The feeling on the other side was very different, particularly knowing no NBA team has overcome a 3-0 series deficit.

New Orleans was outscored 39-19 in the fourth quarter after failing to foul Curry in the final seconds despite coach Monty Williams instructing his players to do so. Davis continued his impressive playoff debut with 29 points and 15 rebounds, but he badly missed a potential tying basket in the final seconds of overtime.

"You can't sugarcoat it," Williams said. "We're all feeling like dirt right now, so obviously you want to build them up, but there is nothing that can build you up in a situation like that."

One bright spot was Ryan Anderson's 26 points after he totaled seven on 2-of-11 shooting through the first two games. Eric Gordon, though, shot 2 of 10 for six points after averaging 19.5 in Games 1 and 2.

Thompson's scoring production has increased with each game after he contributed 28 points Thursday.

"We don't wanna have to come back here, so it was an amazing way to finish the game by Steph and everybody," Thompson said.

Teammate Draymond Green continued his solid series with 12 points, 17 rebounds and five assists. He has helped Golden State hold the rebounding edge in every game and has often bothered Davis, who has a series-high 12 turnovers.

"We could've won the last two games, it's just frustrating," said Davis, whose team also blew a 13-point lead in Game 2.

The Warriors have a 3-0 lead in a best-of-seven series for the first time since the 1975 NBA Finals, when they swept Washington to earn the franchise's only championship since moving to California.

This Golden State team had so many blowout wins this season - its 10.1 scoring differential was the NBA's best in seven years - but none of the victories on its current seven-game winning streak has been by more than 11 points.

"These guys are so confident. They are different," coach Steve Kerr told the NBA's official website. "They never stop believing that they can do almost anything. Maybe it gets them into trouble. But it's also what got them out."
