KEY GAME INFORMATION
MILWAUKEE: GUARDS: The Bucks hope to fill a gaping hole at point guard with a committee approach. BRANDON KNIGHT, an undersized, athletically-overmatched combo guard, will get first crack at the job . . . Ex-Laker KENDALL MARSHALL, a heady floor general who can't shoot or defend, is an option as well . . . KHRIS MIDDLETON, a spot-up shooter, has a good chance to retain his starting job . . . New head coach Jason Kidd will try to rebuild O.J. MAYO, who could emerge as a serviceable sixth man, but looked wholly disinterested last season . . . The arrival of Marshall likely pushes NATE WOLTERS out of the rotation. He could be ticketed for the D-League at some point this season. FORWARDS: JABARI PARKER becomes the new face of this franchise. He can score as well as facilitate the offense. The only real question is what kind of defensive effort he puts in . . . GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO will be used at both forward spots and both guard spots as well. The Greek Freak is raw, but the Bucks will expand his role . . . After a season in Larry Drew's doghouse, the coaching change should bode well for ERSAN ILYASOVA. He's likely looking at a part-time role . . . JOHN HENSON will play some 4 and 5, though his lack of an offensive game limits his appeal . . . JOHNNY O'BRYANT III might push for a rotation spot once he returns from a knee injury in late November. He's one of the few big men on this team who can score around the basket . . . If DAMIEN INGLIS comes over, he's looking at a D-League stint. CENTERS: Kidd is a LARRY SANDERS believer, so after a season filled with injuries and knucklehead behavior, he'll have every chance to bounce back. When he's in the right place, he's an elite rim protector . . . Larry Drew favorite ZAZA PACHULIA is looking at a traditional back-up role now that Drew is gone.
GOLDEN STATE: GUARDS: New head coach Steve Kerr doesn't figure to tweak this system much, so expect STEPHEN CURRY to keep doing his thing. He's added elite playmaking skills to his already outstanding deep shooting . . . The Warriors are reluctant to part with KLAY THOMPSON in part because of his three-point shooting, but mostly because of his defensive value alongside Curry . . . SHAUN LIVINGSTON will back up both guard spots. He's also the only proven point guard on the roster besides Curry . . . BRANDON RUSH will look to revive his career in Oakland. He'll have to prove his knees are healthy enough before he earns a rotation spot . . . It's a make or break year already for NEMANJA NEDOVIC, who was severely overmatched as a rookie. FORWARDS: ANDRE IGUODALA is a defensive specialist and no more than a role player on offense. His main job is to take some of the playmaking duties away from Curry . . . Kerr seems resigned to the fact that he's stuck with DAVID LEE. He has some value on offense, but remains one of the league's worst defensive frontcourt players. Expect him to lose some minutes under Kerr . . . HARRISON BARNES will play a bit of power forward in some small lineups, but mostly he'll play a wing spot. Barnes will have to regain his confidence early if he's going to be an impact sixth man . . . Kerr has hinted at a bigger role for DRAYMOND GREEN, who will play some stretch-4 this year . . . MARREESE SPEIGHTS gives them an offense-only big man off the bench. CENTERS: Kerr has hinted at a bigger offensive role for ANDREW BOGUT. But monitoring the Aussie's minutes may be the bigger goal, to ensure he's actually available for the postseason . . . Back-up center FESTUS EZELI should be ready to return from his knee injury, though he was having shin problems during Summer League.

*Bucks-Warriors Preview* ========================

By TAYLOR BECHTOLD STATS Writer

Milwaukee (32-27) at Golden State (46-12), 10:30 p.m. EDT

After getting tested during a lengthy stretch on the road, the Golden State Warriors will try to regroup by improving on the league's best home record during a needed respite in the Bay Area.

The Western Conference-best Warriors will play 10 of their next 12 games at Oracle Arena starting with Wednesday night's matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, who look to end a five-game road slide.

Road-weary Golden State (46-12) won four of five to open a stretch with 10 of 11 on the road before having its share of troubles while going 3-3 during the second part of that span.

A night after overcoming a 26-point deficit in a 106-101 win at Boston, the Warriors' rally from 10 points down with less than four minutes remaining fell short in a 110-108 loss at Brooklyn on Monday.

Stephen Curry led the late charge with 18 of his 26 points in the final period, while former Bucks center Andrew Bogut scored 16. Klay Thompson, however, had a season-low seven on 3-of-17 shooting - 1 for 9 from 3-point range.

"You're going to have some (ups-and-downs) during the NBA season, that's why it's such a tough league," Bogut said. "Wins on the road are tough. We got three of them and now we'll go home."

The Bay Area should be a welcome sight for the Warriors, who are 24-2 at Oracle. In addition, their impressive plus-15.8 scoring margin at home is easily the league's best mark.

Thompson has been at his best at home, averaging 24.5 points with a 51.6 field-goal percentage compared to 19.6 per game on 41.7 percent shooting on the road.

Golden State opens its home-heavy run against winning clubs Milwaukee, Dallas and the Los Angeles Clippers, though the Bucks (32-28) are struggling with five losses in their last six games. They're also looking to halt their longest road losing streak of the season after dropping the first three on their four-game trip.

Milwaukee, sixth in the East, also fell to 3-8 on the road versus West opponents in Tuesday's 106-95 loss at Denver.

Khris Middleton finished with 20 points, while Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 19 to go along with 11 rebounds.

The Bucks are scuffling offensively with just 87.3 points per game over their past five as they adjust with Michael Carter-Williams now running the point, but they've only allowed 91.7 - fourth in the league - since the All-Star break.

'For a young team this is a good learning experience going into March where everything is heightened," coach Jason Kidd said.

Milwaukee has held opponents to a league-low 10.9 fast-break points per game this season, but it'll be tested defensively against a Golden State team that averages NBA highs of 110.1 points and 20.6 on the break.

Curry had 31 points and 11 assists and Thompson scored 29 as the Warriors swept last season's series with a 115-110 home win March 20. David Lee totaled 44 points and 30 rebounds while shooting 19 for 23 in the two wins, but he's only scored seven in 18 minutes over his last two games.

Leandro Barbosa's status is uncertain after he was sidelined Monday due to a viral respiratory infection, while Milwaukee's O.J. Mayo could sit for the fourth time in five games because of right hamstring soreness.
