KEY GAME INFORMATION
MILWAUKEE: GUARDS: The Bucks hope to fill a gaping hole at point guard with a committee approach. BRANDON KNIGHT, an undersized, athletically-overmatched combo guard, will get first crack at the job . . . Ex-Laker KENDALL MARSHALL, a heady floor general who can't shoot or defend, is an option as well . . . KHRIS MIDDLETON, a spot-up shooter, has a good chance to retain his starting job . . . New head coach Jason Kidd will try to rebuild O.J. MAYO, who could emerge as a serviceable sixth man, but looked wholly disinterested last season . . . The arrival of Marshall likely pushes NATE WOLTERS out of the rotation. He could be ticketed for the D-League at some point this season. FORWARDS: JABARI PARKER becomes the new face of this franchise. He can score as well as facilitate the offense. The only real question is what kind of defensive effort he puts in . . . GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO will be used at both forward spots and both guard spots as well. The Greek Freak is raw, but the Bucks will expand his role . . . After a season in Larry Drew's doghouse, the coaching change should bode well for ERSAN ILYASOVA. He's likely looking at a part-time role . . . JOHN HENSON will play some 4 and 5, though his lack of an offensive game limits his appeal . . . JOHNNY O'BRYANT III might push for a rotation spot once he returns from a knee injury in late November. He's one of the few big men on this team who can score around the basket . . . If DAMIEN INGLIS comes over, he's looking at a D-League stint. CENTERS: Kidd is a LARRY SANDERS believer, so after a season filled with injuries and knucklehead behavior, he'll have every chance to bounce back. When he's in the right place, he's an elite rim protector . . . Larry Drew favorite ZAZA PACHULIA is looking at a traditional back-up role now that Drew is gone.
MINNESOTA: GUARDS: RICKY RUBIO is a fine ball-handler and creative passer, but it would be nice if he knocked down some shots . . . The Wolves are still trying to move KEVIN MARTIN's contract. He has devolved into more of a spot-up shooter . . . ANDREW WIGGINS should immediately contribute for this team. He'll be an elite defender, sooner rather than later, and should be able to produce points as well . . . Shoot-first combo guard MO WILLIAMS will head up the second unit . . . J.J. BAREA is also likely to be moved. He can still do the Mighty Mouse, sixth-man thing . . . On paper, CHASE BUDINGER is a great fit alongside Rubio due to his shooting and movement off the ball. He has to stay healthy though . . . Head coach Flip Saunders is high on ZACH LaVINE, a pure athlete who didn't do much of anything as a freshman at UCLA. FORWARDS: THADDEUS YOUNG is now the best player in this Timberwolves frontcourt. He'll lead the team in scoring and eats up rebounds as well . . . ANTHONY BENNETT should play some significant minutes with this team. He's a good scorer and will try to prove that he was just not ready to come into a bad situation last season . . . COREY BREWER has established himself as a solid defender on the wing who can knock down some threes and run the floor well . . . GLENN ROBINSON III should earn immediate minutes due to his defense . . . SHABAZZ MUHAMMAD gets new life with a new coaching regime coming in. He could be a crafty second-unit scorer . . . RONNY TURIAF is a big body who can protect the rim. CENTERS: NIKOLA PEKOVIC is a big part of this offense without needing plays designed for him. He's arguably the top offensive rebounder in the NBA . . . GORGUI DIENG impressed late last season and should be ready for a bigger role. He and Pekovic might be in a timeshare by the season's second half.

*Bucks-Timberwolves Preview* ============================

Milwaukee (8-7) at Minnesota (3-9), 8:00 p.m. EDT

Andrew Wiggins turned in the best scoring effort of his rookie season in time for his first head-to-head matchup with the player selected right behind him, Jabari Parker.

It was clear at Tuesday's practice that Wiggins' focus is on the court.

These top rookies meet for the first time in the regular season Wednesday night when Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves host Parker and the Milwaukee Bucks.

The star-studded 2014 draft saw Wiggins go No. 1 to Cleveland and Parker No. 2 to Milwaukee, but the trade of Kevin Love to the Cavaliers for Wiggins ended any chance of a budding divisional rivalry between these promising young players.

Now they will meet twice a season, though Wiggins didn't have much to say Tuesday about facing Parker.

"He's a hard worker, he works hard, a determined player and a great scorer," said Wiggins about his counterpart.

Wiggins leads all rookies with a 12.5 scoring average, with Parker second at 11.7. Parker leads in field-goal percentage at 46.0, with Wiggins second at 42.6.

They faced each other in college last season when Wiggins scored 22 points to help Kansas overcome Parker's game-high 27 in a 94-83 win over Duke on Nov. 12, 2013.

These clubs met twice this preseason. Wiggins sat out one of the games and Parker outscored him 21-10 in the Bucks' 105-98 win Oct. 17. The players also met in the summer league.

Minnesota (3-9) hasn't played since Wiggins scored 29 points in Saturday's 113-101 loss to Sacramento. He had season bests in points, minutes (41), field-goal attempts (22) and free throws (10).

"I'm a lot more comfortable on the court, off the court, I know the system well," Wiggins said. "The chemistry is building with the guys every day."

He'll have the advantage of rest since Milwaukee (8-7) won 98-86 at home over Detroit on Tuesday. Parker, who had 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go with nine rebounds, is shooting 40.6 percent in the second half of back-to-backs compared to 49.5 percent in his other games.

The Bucks are 2-3 on the second half of back-to-backs. This is the third of five straight sets for them.

"We understand the importance of coming with energy and effort here on the road," coach Jason Kidd said. "Minnesota is going to get after it, they play extremely well at home, they're well coached."

The injury-plagued Wolves are without shooting guard Kevin Martin (fractured right wrist) while centers Nikola Pekovic (sprained right wrist) and Ronny Turiaf (sore hip) are both doubtful.

Minnesota will get Thaddeus Young back after the forward missed the last five games since his mother passed away from cancer Nov. 13.

"I think it's good for him (to get back) just from perspective of he's had a chance to do a lot of things back home and try to get his head straight and get things organized," coach Flip Saunders said.

The Bucks will be without forward John Henson, who sprained his left foot Tuesday and won't make the trip.

The Wolves have taken the last four matchups and 12 of the last 14 at home.
