| SAN JOSE ST: The Spartans will look similar this season, as 15 starters return. The defense is the weaker of their two units, and new defensive coordinator Ron English will be tasked with turning it around. Look for the team to improve on its 6-7 record now that it have more experience than in recent seasons. | | IOWA ST: Matt Campbell takes over for Paul Rhoads as head coach after having held the same position at Toledo. His man under center is QB Joel Lanning, who took over the job midway through last season, earning starts in Iowa State's final five games. RB Mike Warren and WR Allen Lazard could be among the best at their positions in the Big 12. The Cyclones also return nine starters on defense, a key in a league with so many high-scoring offenses. |
