| MIDDLE TENN ST: Middle Tennessee's roster is a notch below C-USA East favorites Marshall and Western Kentucky, and it could have the hardest schedule of the three. The Blue Raiders have to face both of their allotted West division opponents on the road, which includes a visit to division champion Louisiana Tech. The non-conference schedule is also a bear, with one guaranteed loss at Alabama, and two other games versus teams that could be double-digit favorites (at Illinois, vs. Vanderbilt). | | W KENTUCKY: The Hilltoppers' offense is very effective under QB Brandon Doughty, as they were sixth-best in the nation on third-down conversions last year (51%). The big questions on this team all lie with defense, and this beleaguered Western Kentucky unit will certainly be tested in road games at Vanderbilt, Indiana, Rice and LSU. But the Hilltoppers have the good fortune of hosting both Marshall and Middle Tennessee, who are the only two other teams with a real chance to win the C-USA East division. |
