KEY GAME INFORMATION
NEW MEXICO: Head coach Bob Davie has collected enough talent to make a run at the Lobos' first bowl berth since 2007. With a soft early-season schedule and Colorado State and Air Force at home to end the regular season, an eight-win season is within reach if the defense shows any improvement. Defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove is installing a 3-3-5 in his second season but other than MLB Dakota Cox, who earned first-team All-MWC honors, the Lobos lack playmakers on defense.
NEVADA: Head coach Brian Polian and the Wolf Pack held steady for the first two years of his tenure, but this season will be a whole new challenge with quarterback Cody Fajardo having departed. The pistol offense seems to make average players good and good players great, so there's hope that Nevada can make it to a bowl for the 10th time in 11 seasons. But more likely, Nevada is looking at a down year with a dearth of playmakers on offense.
