| GEORGETOWN: Last season: 15-18, no postseason.
Nickname: Hoyas.
Coach: John Thompson III.
Conference: Big East.
Who's gone: G D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, F Paul White.
Who's back: G L.J. Peak. Junior was second in scoring last season and made 49.1 percent of field goals; F Isaac Copeland. Junior who started all 33 games and averaged 11.1 points is preseason all- Conference second-team choice; F Marcus Derrickson. After starting 27 games, could get bigger offensive share as sophomore.
Who's new: G Rodney Pryor. Robert Morris transfer is in sixth year of eligibility and could be offensive spark; G Jonathan Mulmore. Junior college transfer can put up points. G Jagan Mosley. Freshman could push for minutes right away.
The Skinny: Reinforcements make the Hoyas an NCAA Tournament contender once again, though they'll be tested plenty in the top-heavy Big East with national champion Villanova, Xavier, Creighton and Seton Hall. |
