Who's back: G Josh Heath. Senior started 21 games and averaged 2.79 assists; F Quinton Stephens. Senior who shot 32 percent from 3-point range; G Tadric Jackson. Junior made one start and scored in double-figures five times; C Ben Lammers. Junior who shot 65.5 percent in limited minutes and led team with 47 blocks.
Who's new: F Kellen McCormick. Graduate transfer shot 42 percent from 3-point range in three seasons at Western Michigan; G/F Jodan Price. Another graduate transfer who started 10 games the last two seasons at Eastern Michigan. F Sylvester Ogbonda. A 6-foot-10 native of Nigeria who redshirted last season.
The Skinny: Taking over after Brian Gregory was fired, Pastner faces a massive rebuilding job at Georgia Tech. He must replace four starters who combined to average 52.3 points and 21.2 rebounds per game as well as forward James White, the team's third-leading rebounder (4.4). Who's back: F Zach LeDay. Senior led the Hokies in scoring (15.5) and rebounding (7.9) last season; G Seth Allen. Senior was No. 2 scorer (14.4 ppg) and got to free throw line 219 times; G Ahmed Hill. Sophomore is solid defender and returns after missing last season with broken foot.
Who's new: G/F Ty Outlaw. Transfer junior and dead-eye shooter is cleared to play after being monitored last season for a heart condition.
The Skinny: The Hokies were the surprise of the ACC last season, finishing as the sixth seed, but they won't be sneaking up on people this year. Williams finally has enough players, barring significant injuries, to have more than enough talent to look to match, or improve on, last season's finish. |
