| IDAHO: Paul Petrino has been associated with some offenses that won games with smoke and mirrors, so perhaps he could work some magic with sophomore quarterback Matt Linehan and the passing game. If not, the Vandals might be equipped to out-ugly some opponents with a bruising running game and a serviceable defensive front. But with an offense that doesn't make many big plays, and a defense that doesn't prevent them effectively, Idaho doesn't have a formula to win games with any kind of consistency. | | TROY: Neal Brown's return should create plenty of long-term optimism for Troy. If nothing else, his fast-breaking, pass-happy offense should make things interesting in a league that has leaned spread but run-heavy in recent years. Brown might have the right quarterback in sophomore Brandon Silvers, but the offense lacks the kind of catch-and-run weapons his offense needs. Not to mention, the defense is still a work in progress. The Trojans seem poised to make a move towards the top of the league in the coming years, but they're middle-of-the-pack in 2015. |
