KEY GAME INFORMATION
HOUSTON: With Outland Trophy-winning DT Ed Oliver in the fold, the Cougars will have the best defensive line in the conference. Oliver is capable of dominating a game single-handedly, and he'll likely hear his name called within the first five picks of next year's NFL draft. Houston also happens to have a ton of transfers coming in to help bolster a talented secondary. Offensively, the Cougars had their worst scoring season in 12 years last year. But Major Applewhite is an offensive-minded coach, and it's hard to imagine him not figuring it out with all their talent. Houston will have a shot to win the AAC.
TEXAS TECH: Lubbock has frozen over: There's currently more faith in the Red Raiders' defense than there is in their offense. The D took huge strides from 2016 to 2017, and now almost everyone is back from last year. On offense, Kliff Kingsbury needs to break in a new quarterback, a new running back and new wideouts. The line is strong, though, forming a solid foundation for a unit that has consistently been among the nation's best throughout this century.
