| OHIO U: The Bobcats don't have the flashy offense to match some of the MAC East's other contenders, but their defense has a chance to be the division's best'sophomore Quentin Poling and senior Jovon Johnson both have first-team all-conference upside and could be the best tandem of linebackers in the conference. Frank Solich teams typically find a way; last year's squad was the worst he's had at Ohio yet still posted a .500 record. If any of their quarterbacks emerge, the Bobcats could become the favorites in the MAC East. | | IDAHO: Paul Petrino has been associated with some offenses that won games with smoke and mirrors, so perhaps he could work some magic with sophomore quarterback Matt Linehan and the passing game. If not, the Vandals might be equipped to out-ugly some opponents with a bruising running game and a serviceable defensive front. But with an offense that doesn't make many big plays, and a defense that doesn't prevent them effectively, Idaho doesn't have a formula to win games with any kind of consistency. |
