| MIAMI OHIO: The RedHawks hired Notre Dame OC Chuck Martin as head coach to inject life into a putrid offense (9.8 PPG, 2nd-worst in FBS). Former Irish players -- QB Andrew Hendrix (6.2 YPC, 1 TD, 2 INT career) and TE Alex Welch -- will help, as will WR Dawan Scott (301 rec yds). RB Spencer Treadwell (163 rush yds, 3.1 YPC) is a weak top back. The defense is nothing special despite the presence of LB Kent Kern (98 tackles) and CB Heath Harding (54 tackles). | | CINCINNATI: Notre Dame transfer QB Gunner Kiel is expected to run the Bearcats offense with plenty of talent at receiver, especially WR Shaq Washington (78 rec, 783 yds). Cincinnati can also rush the football effectively with RBs Hosey Williams (655 rush yds, 5.7 YPC), Ralph David Abernathy IV (518 rush yds, 5 TD) or Tion Green (412 rush yds, 7 TD). New DC Hank Hughes will keep the 4-3 defense intact that is ignited by the pass-rushing of DE Silverberry Mouhon (9.5 sacks) and relies on LB Nick Temple (79 tackles, 5.5 sacks). |
