| | | WAKE FOREST: After ranking in the nation's bottom-10 in points (18.5 PPG) and yards (301 YPG), the Demon Deacons will run more option plays this year with QB Tanner Price (2,300 pass yds, 12 TD, 7 INT). The O-Line should be healthier to create more holes for Price and RBs Josh Harris (608 rush yds, 5 TD) and Deandre Martin (484 rush yds, 6 TD). When Price drops back, he'll look mostly to WR Michael Campanaro (763 rec. yds, 6 TD), who nearly set an ACC record with 79 catches. The 90th-ranked defense (433 YPG) allowed 37+ points six times, but returns nearly everybody. The D-Line isn't impressive, but the back seven sure are, especially CB Kevin Johnson (15 PD, 3 INT), FS A.J. Marshall (76 tackles) and LB Justin Jackson (81 tackles, 4 sacks). | | ARMY: As if going 2-10 wasn't bad enough, now Army has to replace legendary QB Trent Steelman who accounted for 6,048 yards and 59 TD in his career. The Black Knights will again run the triple-option that led them to a nation's-best 370 rushing YPG, using either QB A.J. Schurr (8-for-18, 130 yds, 2 TD; 12 rush, 47 yds) or QB Angel Santiago (7-of-24, 84 yds; 53 rush, 174 yds, 1 TD). RB Raymond Maples (1,215 rush yds, 5.4 YPC) and FB Larry Dixon (839 rush yds, 6.0 YPC, 6 TD) will again get many option pitches behind a seasoned O-Line. WR Chevaughn Lawrence (357 rec. yds, 17.0 YPC) is a capable No. 1 receiver. Army's defense struggled in many facets, allowing 35.3 PPG (106th in FBS) and 232 rushing YPG (T-3rd-worst in FBS). DL Robert Kough (42 tackles, 9.5 TFL) anchors a veteran O-Line while FS Geoffrey Bacon (136 tackles as linebacker) now keeps the secondary in check. |
