*Butler-DePaul Preview* =======================

By TAYLOR BECHTOLD STATS Writer

Butler (20-8) at DePaul (12-17), 2:00 p.m. EDT

Although hopes for a Big East title have been dashed since Andrew Chrabascz went down, Butler has discovered a winning formula without him as it looks to lock down the league's second seed.

Ahead of two difficult matchups to close the regular season, the 23rd-ranked Bulldogs seek a sweep of the season series when they visit reeling DePaul on Saturday.

Butler (20-8, 10-5) had some trouble adjusting early on without Chrabascz, who sustained a broken right hand in a 68-65 home loss to first-place Villanova on Feb. 14.

The Bulldogs escaped with a 58-56 victory at struggling Creighton two days later before falling 73-56 at Xavier last Saturday for their worst defeat of the season.

Chrabascz, who had surgery Feb. 16, is set to miss a fourth straight game after averaging 17.8 points during five straight victories prior to the injury.

Butler ended its slump Wednesday by finishing with 16 assists and six turnovers in a 73-52 home win over Marquette. It had averaged 9.3 assists over its previous three games and committed 11.7 turnovers in the prior six.

Kellen Dunham had 22 points after scoring in single digits for only the second time all season against the Musketeers. Kameron Woods and Tyler Wideman totaled 22 points and 15 rebounds.

"We have a really tough group ... we're doing a nice job adapting (without Chrabascz)," Dunham, third in the league with 16.8 points per game, told the team's official Twitter account.

Though they've fallen three games behind Villanova with three remaining, the Bulldogs sit in a tie with Georgetown and hold a one-game lead over No. 25 Providence in the race for the No. 2 seed in the Big East tournament. They'll host the Hoyas on Tuesday before visiting the Friars next Saturday.

Dunham scored 24 as Butler shot 57.4 percent in an 83-73 home win over DePaul (12-17, 6-10) on Feb. 7. Roosevelt Jones chipped in with 20 points, while Woods added eight boards to help Butler own a 31-25 edge on the glass.

The Bulldogs lead the Big East with a plus-5.6 rebounding margin, while the Blue Demons are last at minus-5.1.

Since opening league play 3-0, the Blue Demons have dropped 10 of 13. They'll be trying to avoid a season high-tying sixth consecutive defeat following Tuesday's 75-62 home loss to Creighton.

DePaul has slumped on both ends, averaging 60.7 points in its last three while allowing 79.2 per game and 51.0 percent shooting during the losing streak.

"When you take bad shots, leave shooters open and don't get back on defense, that's pretty much a recipe for disaster," forward Forrest Robinson, who scored a team-high 14 points Tuesday, told the school's official website.

Billy Garrett Jr., who averages a team-best 12.9 points, has totaled 16 while shooting 6 for 22 in his last two games. The sophomore guard finished with six points and made 1 of 6 shots in the first meeting with the Bulldogs.

Butler's Alex Barlow scored a career-high 19 in a 79-46 victory March 6 in the last matchup in Rosemont.

DePaul is 1-3 against ranked opponents this season and has lost 23 straight such matchups at home.
